If his arm doesn’t fall of by the time he reaches free agency, he might be ours, all ours… 🤓 We'll get him like we got Kerry Wood.

Skenes is the real deal. He’s another Gerrit Cole, except bigger and throws harder.
My first thought was that I'm happy for the Pittsburgh Pirate fans, it looks like they have a future star Pitcher.
My second thought was, maybe he will be a Yankee in about 6 years.

Thus far the Mets have allowed 58 SB this season, and have caught only 4 (6%)…

Royals Designate Matt Sauer For Assignment By Steve Adams | May 20, 2024 at 2:39pm CDT/MLB Rumors
The Royals have designated right-hander Matt Sauer for assignment and selected the contract of left-handed reliever Sam Long from Triple-A Omaha, per a team announcement. Sauer was selected out of the Yankees organization in December’s MLB Rule 5 Player Draft. The Royals will have a week to trade him or place him on waivers, and if he goes unclaimed he must be offered back to the New York Yankees for $50K.
A 2nd-round pick by theNew York Yankees back in 2017, the now-25-year-old Sauer made his big league debut when he first took the mound for Kansas City this season. He held opponents to just 2 runs through his 1st 9 1/3 MLB innings but did so with an ugly ratio of just 4 strikeouts to 8 walks. The lack of command and a put-away pitch proved problematic in the weeks since. Dating back to April 29th, Sauer has been torched for a 12 runs in 7 innings.
Overall, Sauer has pitched 16 1/3 innings for the Royals and yielded a 7.71 ERA. He fanned only 10.7% of his opponents against an ugly 13.1% walk rate in that time. Were the Royals at or near the bottom of the division, perhaps they’d have been more patient, but at 29-19 on the year and standing in 2nd place, Kansas City clearly felt that they couldn’t continue the experiment if it meant getting such minimal production out of a bullpen spot.
Is he worth a 2nd chance to the Yankees @ 50,000?

Clipper Sauer clearly wasn't ready for the big leagues but that's the rules of the Rule V draft.

Hmmm...this thread has been inactive for four days, so I'll throw something in here.. If you haven't checked out the interference DP call that ended last night's O's-White Sox game as an 8-6 O's win, you might want to. It seems inexplicable ot me.

Vaughan absolutely did not interfere, but that's irrelevant if the infield fly was called because the play would've been dead anyway.

Vaughn had no idea Henderson was near him, and he wasn't even close to being out of the baseline. Gunnar easily made the catch anyway, so where was the interference?

In addition, the infield fly rule was called, Benintendi was out regardless of whether Henderson caught the ball or not. Further, interference is a judgment call. 6.01(a) says the runner CAN be called out, not should be, or shall be, or must be. Henderson didn't even have a play to any of the bases on the runners, because by the time he caught the high pop, both runners were back on their bases.

Bleacher Report is reporting that the league has told the White Sox that they got the call wrong.

That call is on the short list of the worst and most confusing decisions in umpiring history. The league has already admitted it was wrong.
