Brady Anderson was a much bigger jump:
Maybe but the point still stands. The assertion (not yours) was, without any support, that players don’t have one year spikes from PED usage. That’s unsupportable. We have evidence of players like Pettitte who, if you believe him (I don’t) used it for less than a year. Also, put yourself in a player’s shoes. Let’s make shoes belong to Adrian Beltre. It’s your contract year. You’d really like to get a big contract. You do. Now you can relax. Don’t risk your heatlt anymore. Now put Hawk Dawson’s shoes on. You just wound up misjudging the market in an off-season where all the players are screaming “collusion” you had to sign a one year make good deal with the Cubs for $500K. Maybe you’re a little bit pissed off. You’ll show THEM! Jab me with needles, pour some juice in me, gimme some pills... I want to get mine next year...

I don’t think it is right obviously but I understand why so many guys did it. I also think based on what I have read the usage was far Korea pervasive than people talk about. The incentives for mediocre players to cheat was enormous and there was no oversight at all. The difference between being a career minor leaguer and being a bench player in the majors is massive. I think a ton of players fitting that description were using in plain sight of teams and media.

Surprising that Gonzalez had to settle for a minor league deal, but he's heading to Cleveland.

Legendary baseball guy Carlos Santana smashed a TV with a bat to put a stop to Fornite last season
Carlos Santana is a classic Baseball Guy. He speaks softly and carries a big stick. He thinks sunflower seeds are for snowflakes and that kids should go outside to play. You might not know a lot about him, but a new ESPN report tells you just everything you need to: In the midst of the Phillies' nine-game losing streak last fall—which saw the team plummet below .500 after being first place the NL East as late as August 12th—Santana discovered teammates playing Fortnite in the clubhouse in the middle of division rivalry game with the Atlanta Braves. Instead of scolding them or retreating into a veteran bubble as many players would have, Santana instead grabbed his bat and put it straight through the TV. You hear that rustling? That's the sound of baseball hardos everywhere crossing their legs.
"I see a couple players -- I don't want to say names -- they play video games during the game," Santana said. "We come and lose too many games, and I feel like they weren't worried about it. Weren't respecting their teammates or coaches or the staff or the [front] office. It's not my personality. But I'm angry because I want to make it good."

Bad news for Michael Fulmer. And to think that we missed our chance to sign him...

It's never looking good when you are seeking a third opinion. I really feel bad for Fulmer, after such a promising start to his career.
Pitching injuries are just insane.

I forgot! Baseball regular season officially began already! Mariners vs. Athletics in Japan! Mariners leading the A's 5-2! Go Mariners!

This may be the least-watched home opener in history. I think this was a 2:30 AM start on the West Coast.

We renamed our toilet. We used to call it the John. I call it the Jim now. I feel so much better when I can tell people I went to the Jim this morning... But, seriously...congrats for taking care of yourself, Chi... Chi runs half-marathons for fun! You didn't know? Oh, yeah...That's right. My sister, who is now 75 used to run the whole marathons...She's still skinny as a rail, but time catches up with all of us. She recently sold her house and got a condo to get away from yard work, and complains because she has no yard to let her dog out and has to take it out on a leash...I also recall a family doctor we had when we were younger that spent almost every non-working moment running. My brother saw him crossing the street one day when he was in his eighties and his gait was less than a foot. So, we do what we're comfortable with and with the body and tolerance we're given... BTW: I went to the Jim this morning. I feel great...We do have a few Marathon gas stations out here, so there's my marathon...I carry the groceries in (weight lifting)...walk the dog (when she and I both want to go)...carry the laundry up and down the stairs (aerobics)...It's not enough, but when it comes to exercise for exercise sake, I've never really been good at it...I have to have a purpose, and played hard when I played sports (though baseball was the only one I was really skilled at...and oddly, badminton...and I guess if you're going to include badminton, then there's wiffle ball. I did have a knack, and as a switch hitter I could always use the wind to my advantage, though I was best left-handed because I overpowered the bat right handed (make sense)??? A couple of the old guys in the neighborhood, who like me haven't played golf in a decade or more are wanting to go golfing this summer. I sense much pain, and loading people up on stretchers if that day comes to pass...I guess I forgot golf and bowling, but neither one is that strenuous... Chi is a real athlete, to me. The guys that can run like that are amazing. My side hurts just thinking about running those stupid laps around the athletic field we used to have to do...What city is LeBron's new show in? Is that Chicago? We might see Chi on the tube!!!
