Chi runs half-marathons for fun! You didn't know? Oh, yeah...That's right. My sister, who is now 75 used to run the whole marathons...She's still skinny as a rail, but time catches up with all of us. She recently sold her house and got a condo to get away from yard work, and complains because she has no yard to let her dog out and has to take it out on a leash...I also recall a family doctor we had when we were younger that spent almost every non-working moment running. My brother saw him crossing the street one day when he was in his eighties and his gait was less than a foot. So, we do what we're comfortable with and with the body and tolerance we're given... BTW: I went to the Jim this morning. I feel great...We do have a few Marathon gas stations out here, so there's my marathon...I carry the groceries in (weight lifting)...walk the dog (when she and I both want to go)...carry the laundry up and down the stairs (aerobics)...It's not enough, but when it comes to exercise for exercise sake, I've never really been good at it...I have to have a purpose, and played hard when I played sports (though baseball was the only one I was really skilled at...and oddly, badminton...and I guess if you're going to include badminton, then there's wiffle ball. I did have a knack, and as a switch hitter I could always use the wind to my advantage, though I was best left-handed because I overpowered the bat right handed (make sense)??? A couple of the old guys in the neighborhood, who like me haven't played golf in a decade or more are wanting to go golfing this summer. I sense much pain, and loading people up on stretchers if that day comes to pass...I guess I forgot golf and bowling, but neither one is that strenuous... Chi is a real athlete, to me. The guys that can run like that are amazing. My side hurts just thinking about running those stupid laps around the athletic field we used to have to do...What city is LeBron's new show in? Is that Chicago? We might see Chi on the tube!!!

We renamed our toilet. We used to call it the John. I call it the Jim now. I feel so much better when I can tell people I went to the Jim this morning... But, seriously...congrats for taking care of yourself, Chi... Chi runs half-marathons for fun! You didn't know? I just ran one on St. Paddy's Day. It was actually snowing out when I got into my car to drive to the event, fortunately it got a little nicer out before the race.

This kid is a highly ranked prospect and it looks like he's getting a nice long term contract before he ever plays in a major league game.

Looks like this may be the wave of the future for highly-touted prospects. Team friendly if the prospect turns out to be what they hope. The percentages on that are pretty variable. The Phillies did the same thing with IFer Scott Kingery last year, signing him to six years/$24 million with a team option for three more years at $42 million before he ever played in the majors. Year one was pretty ragged for him, but obviously it's too soon to make a judgment.

The only way for the owners to counter charges of collusion for not wanting to pay older players is going to be to start spending the dollars on youth. Either way, they have to take a risk. I believe if it were me, I would rather gamble on the younger players who tend to be more athletic and healthy...

I believe if it were me, I would rather gamble on the younger players who tend to be more athletic and healthy... Especially for big time prospects like Jimenez. This deal could be a huge bargain for the White Sox in the second half of the deal.

THANK YOU Mr. Ichiro for allowing me to watch your AMAZING CAREER!!! If all MLB Players followed your Fitness Regime = There would be less injuries. Again, Thanks. --03-21-19: www.mlbtraderumors.com/
With these two games, Ichiro has now appeared in parts of the last 28 seasons in both Major League Baseball and Nippon Professional Baseball, completing one of the most remarkable careers in the history of the sport.
Over 951 games with the Orix Buffaloes in Japan and then 2653 games with the Mariners, Yankees, and Marlins in North America, Ichiro recorded more professional hits than any player ever.
Heading into today’s action, Ichiro had an incredible 4367 career hits — 1278 in NPB, and 3089 in MLB, reaching the 3000-hit club in the majors despite not playing his first North American game until he was already 27 years old.
After nine years as a star in Japan, Ichiro made a heavily-anticipated jump to the majors prior to the 2001 season after the Mariners won a posting bid to acquire his services. The transition was more than just seamless — Ichiro’s debut in the Show saw him hit .350/.381/.457 over a league-high 738 plate appearances for a 116-win Mariners team. He became just the second player to win both the Rookie Of The Year and MVP Awards in the same year, also winning the first of three Silver Slugger Awards and the first of 10 Gold Gloves.
Ichiro’s smooth left-handed hitting stroke and quick acceleration out of the box made him a threat to reach base every time he made contact. Perhaps the most notable of his many achievements was setting a new single-season hits record in 2004, as his 262 hits broke the 84-year-old mark formerly held by Hall-of-Famer George Sisler.
Ichiro’s defense and baserunning were perhaps just as impressive as his exploits at the plate. He stole a league-best 56 bases in 2001, and finished his career with 509 steals, tied for 35th-most in Major League history. As a right fielder, Ichiro unleashed a throwing arm that instantly drew comparisons to Roberto Clemente in terms of both power and accuracy.
While his skills inevitably declined with age, Ichiro did his best to stave off Father Time, playing past his 45th birthday due to a near-mythic fitness regime and nonstop preparation. This work ethic helped make Ichiro one of the most respected players of recent times, idolized by both fans and teammates alike all over the world. READ MORE...

Details of Snell's deal. The cheapo Rays will probably trade after the 2020 season.

Now Goldschmidt is cashing in. Arizona should have coughed up the bucks to keep him.

Now Goldschmidt is cashing in. Arizona should have coughed up the bucks to keep him. Im surprised Goldy isnt testing FA waters. I guess maybe hes worried about getting a long term bc he will already be 32 so just take the guarantee now but he is still one of the best in the game. Could have really commanded the market now that Arenado was out of play...would easily be the best position player available. I guess $22mm per throughout thirties though isnt too shabby.
