Now Goldschmidt is cashing in. Arizona should have coughed up the bucks to keep him. I guess this is one of the reasons the Cardinals are almost always in the mix and the D'Backs not so much. Goldschmidt should never have been allowed to leave. |

I guess maybe hes worried about getting a long term bc he will already be 32 so just take the guarantee now but he is still one of the best in the game. Could have really commanded the market now that Arenado was out of play...would easily be the best position player available. I guess $22mm per throughout thirties though isnt too shabby. Ironically, had Arizona offered that amount before dealing Goldy, he may have turned it down... |

That said one of his faults is streaky control. Yep. Lots of walks in ST would not be helpful, and you’d have to have a lot of faith in him to assume he’d recover his control with a display like that... |

DeGrom finally gets his extension. I was at Citi Field for deGrom's debut and have been a big fan ever since. Great mechanics, very simple, and a hell of a pitcher. Great for him and great for the Mets. |

I have hated the Mets since they were invented in 1962. But that is superseded by my love for the game, and as with Trout I'm glad to see this. Great pitcher who should spend his career with the team what brought him. Good move.
