I would think that they prospects of sitting the bench would cause Ellsbury to reconsider his stance on staying with the Yanks.

Perhaps I'll wind up sounding foolish, but with this development I feel as though Cole is as good as ours. Watch for this trade to be completed soon...

He won't be a free agent until 2020, and he's a Scott Boras client. Boras will anoint him Pedro Martinez in 2020. What would it take for the Pirates to part with him? And, I'm always leary of National League pitchers coming to the AL East. Not sure it's a slam dunk, and he spurned the Yanks once before. Okay, that's all the negatives I can think of right now. What are the positives from your point of view?

What are the positives from your point of view? Twenty-seven years old, now one year plus fully recovered from nagging injuries that he had in 2016 has seen his velocity move back up to where it was prior to the spate of injuries. His command should be fully in focus in 2018, meaning that the young pitcher that went 19-8; 2.60 in 2015 may still be lurking inside that body. If it is, and we can get him off of last season's lackluster numbers, it's another Cashman coup...On the other hand, should Robbie Ray become available, Cole would have to be on helluva bargain for me to take him over Ray... Earlier in the fall, I thought Ray was unlikely to be moved, now I'm reading that the Dbacks are crying that they need salary relief...so I dunno... Back to Cole, if he DOES become the second coming of Pedro by 2020, let him walk, and find the third coming...and sign him young... There will always be another great pitcher on the way...

Why shouldn’t he. They had no business leaving something like that not covered. It may end up costing him lots of $$$&

The Diamondbacks, A's & Giants are looking for outfielders = Gardner & Ellsbury???!!! Hello Front office, anyone there?
Tequila & I are firm believers, that instead of signing/trading for another starting pitcher, we should be looking at signing another good BP Reliever. Why?
If you look back at the last 2-years of Play-Offs & the WS, SP were being yanked as early as the 4th inning. There were times WE said, "What the Heck, what did the SP do wrong?"
In many cases, nothing...for now, it appears the strategy for the Play-Offs & the WS is to go to the BP very, very early. If this is the case; than we need another good Reliever, not another SP.
Your thoughts???
Got to go, for Tequila and I are getting ready for the Holiday Season, like only we can...

The Diamondbacks, A's & Giants are looking for outfielders = Gardner & Ellsbury???!!! Hello Front office, anyone there? Ellsbury + $$ for Samardzija? Both have terrible contracts, but at least the Yanks get pitching depth and a guy who (while not an ace) is durable. Think SF would go for it if it means filling an OF spot and getting out from Samardzija's contract?

Saying he's not an ace is either an overstatement or an understatement (depending upon your viewpoint) of what he is, which is a terrible pitcher. As much as I'd like to see Ellsbury heading out of town, I'd feel the same about Samardzija very quickly. Plus I'd have to worry about how to spell that impossible name every time I complain about him...PASS...
