@bryanhoch Didi Gregorius tore cartilage in his wrist on the slide home yesterday. Boone said there is a chance he does not return this season.
--------
Wow, that sucks.

That is really bad news...Coming on the heels of today’s loss, a classically poorly managed game, I’m even more discouraged about this team’s chances to perform in the post-season...

I really don’t get names sometimes. How does a guy named Alfred Manuel wind up being called Billy? Why did Ruth’s mom, whose name is Celeste, name her Celeste Ruth and then call her Ruth? I spoke a fellow yesterday who was one of seven siblings who were all given first names that started with “T”, which still leads to confusion. Where in the heck did my mom come up with “Leon”??? Maybe she was a fan of Elton John but forgot the V. Did she make you wear little, round, wire-framed glasses? You could be related to Trotsky. He died in Mexico. Hey, that's why you have the sombrero!

Hey, that's why you have the sombrero! No specs until I was 53. Then, and still, just for reading. My eyesight used to be pretty much off-the charts good. It was probably like 20/5. I could see things that other people thought I was faking, like the copyright line on the bottom of eye charts. No more, though. I can still read street signs at a pretty good distance, which is s great advantage in unfamiliar areas... Mother, who herself was saddled at birth with the name Malvina Eliza Theresa Pearl Lajuenesse wanted us all to have short, easy to write names after having her knuckles rapped multiple times per day in Catholic school for taking longer to write her name than Mary Ann Smith. So... I got Leon Wade. One of my brothers got Wayne Leo. Perhaps she liked that L-E-O combo for some reason...

With Stanton and Sanchez slumping and Judge still working into form, it is terrible need. Maybe it just isn’t their year.

I only have my very anecdotal personal experience to go by, but I currently have a TFCC tear I suffered during softball playoffs. It happened on a Saturday and I was able to finish out our games that day and play the whole championship round of games on Sunday. It’s certainly painful, and there is some range of motion loss in that wrist, but it’s nothing that can’t be played through with only a minor loss of efficacy. Certainly shut Didi down for the rest of the regular season to get him as healed as he can get, but I expect they will be able to have him for the playoffs in a slightly reduced capacity.

Catholicism must be quite an ass. Sorry if any of you are Catholic, but the tortures, sexual abuse, exorcisms.., it’s a bit much for me...
At one time I worked for a fellow that was a devout Catholic, and it turned out that more than one of his most admired priests and even higher ranked church officials were nabbed in one of those sexual predator situations. He said it was very disheartening for him, having held those people in such high regard for so many years...

Of course, everything will be fine if everyone else is healthy and steps up...There’s been little indication that will happen lately. Heck Boone might get visited by aliens (again?) and decide to bat Hechavarria lead off to “get his out out of the way to start the game.” We have one weird little manager right now...

Billy’s Italian grandmother always called him bello (beautiful) as a child. That combined with his father (who was his namesake) being cut out of his life, Billy stuck with an anglicized pronunciation of his nickname.

Good to know there may be hope. Did you guys win??? We sure did. I hit two home runs in the final, injured wrist and all. We had a very disappointing regular season after a promising one last year, so it was nice we pulled it out in the end. Suffice to say we we rather large underdogs in every game.
