So happy for you, Kaybli. I really look forward to your first-hand reports. It will be like having John and Suzyn checking in, with the modest difference that you actually know something about the game of baseball. I know it is blind faith, but in my mind I already have the Yanks preparing for Boston.

Awfully nice of you, Kaybli. Yeah, every now and then I evaporate, not sure why. But as long as you are on here, this forum will always be entertaining. I've seen that Womack avatar a million times and it still makes me laugh. And you are definitely speaking for me when you go into your "sit down, you bum" mode. Kind of reminds me of how the late great Mr. G used to say "we're going to smack the crap out of (fill in pitcher's name.)"

I know he's watching from up there! Thank you again for the kind words. Hard to believe Womack's days as a Yankee was a good 13 years ago! It's been a blast with everyone here on the forum. Looking forward to more good times with the Yankees ahead! Now if we can just win this one game Wild Card I would be so happy!

Man, hard to believe Womack goes back that far. Right around when Cano was breaking in, and Jeter and Posada and Mo were in their primes. Kyle Farnsworth and Tanyon Sturtze!! Sidney Ponson and Aaron Small. Yikes!! I know MrG would love this team, which really is one of the more likeable in a good while. Lots of good guys. I remember MrG was always skeptical about Posada -- it cracked me up, it was one of the few places I disagreed with him -- that and he was a lot easier on A-Rod than I was. But it was always good-natured. Remember he used to say "I like Cairo." I think of him a lot. Just like I think of Jwild and Ban and Grandforks and so many other knowledgeable contributors. Maybe some day they will all show up and we'll have our "Field of Dreams" moment. Maestro from Venezuela. UKYank. TrotNixonForPresident. The woman Barb from Massachusetts -- can't think of her handle, she was very cool. Don't know if you recall an earlier guy, bangbangplay. He was good too, an old guy like me who grew up watching Mantle and Maris and Ford. Well, don't want to turn this into a thread hijack. We can reminisce in the off-season, which I hope doesn't start for the Yanks until sometime around November. Don't let this end on Wednesday night, kaybli!!

I hope they are all doing well. I even had a tribute to many of our missing posters a few years back:

That was a really cool tribute, Kaybli. Very movingly done with the Soul Asylum song. Names I had forgotten -- nick2slick, sebboH, PSUNYC -- wasn't nick2slick part of a brother act? Didn't somebody once accuse him of having a statue of A-Rod in his bedroom? Funny stuff. Some of the skirmishes were entertaining, some got a little too tense. There was another poster with a name similar to Great Fatness -- he had the word Fat in it. There was a guy named Miguel who was based in either Uruguay or Israel or maybe both. Fun to look back at that.

Fun to remember our old team mates, and I’ll easily echo and double kaybli’s appreciation for your return to the pack, pipps. I used to work with a fellow who spent about fourteen or fifteen years in the trenches with me at the old Western Auto Store in Rising Sun, MD who could recall every employee that had worn those ugly orange shirts beside us, even the ones that only lasted a few days as part-time after schoolers.
That job really stunk on the serface, with a nasty-natured and unappreciative boss, long hours and low pay, but Joe and I always found a way to laugh and goof off when the opportunity allowed. I swear, we were an unbelievable comedy team when we got it rolling. In the end, I learned a helluva lot in that environment, both good and bad...

Just re-watched that tribute. For some reason it made me recall the incident with JoeBee when I had commented that my fondest memories of playing baseball often surrounded my best defensive moments and wanted to turn that into meaning I was a “Good field/no hit outfielder”.
It was quite funny to me, since I was a power hitter, though my biggest failure was the desire to hit every ball over the fence, and being an extreme pull hitter...
I had the feeling old JoeBee had only played as ball as a man coukd while operating an elevator... (:
Here I go stealing the thread pipps decided not to highjack... ooops. Bad habit of mine, I know...

Sounds like you made the best of a disagreeable situation. Thousands of people pass through our lives. It's fun to recall them, good, bad or indifferent. A lot of interesting characters walked through the old Pinstripes Plus portal.

Thanks for the reminder Chi. Now I remember getting a PM from one of them asking me to join. Kind of like the USFL trying to get NFL players to jump back in the day!

The guy with the John sterling avatar bailsbud I thought we concluded tmarino is Yankee54 That's hilarious Anthony, I'd forgotten the Sterling avatar. I have to laugh at Sterling, otherwise I would scream. Bailsbud, great to see that name again. There was a rather unusual guy named Zen, who was allegedly a Red Sox fan but was always getting blasted by the other Sox fans on the forum. There must have been hundreds of posters at one time.
