Just pulled the trigger on 2 tix for me and my bro...section 414. Lets get this win!!! Only mildly jealous of you guys...bear in mind that I always think of a bit of jealously as being healthy, whereas full blown envy illicits hatred and the desire to take what you have away and make it mine through any means posdible. Enjoy being there with the sweat, smell of stale beer and potential vomit all around you as I suffer in front of my TV set a good 1,800 miles away. I’ll be safe from potential infection and assaualt on my ears, thinking how great it would be to be right there beside you. Have fun my friends. If you can find a moment to think of me, imagine what it would be like if I could be there beside you, interjecting clever commentary and consuming the many beers you would likely buy me. Yes, sometimes I can consume as many as 2 in a single setting, though never that many when I’m being charged $8 or more per... (: I know I’llthink of you, and even more so if we can take early command of and dominate the contest...what a treat to be there under those circumstances. We shall not allow thoughts of the alternative..,

I'm surprised since I would have went with Happ or Tanaka over Sevy, plus Sanchez catching Luis scares me right now.

Some more roster information for tomorrow's game:

Severino starting in the WC game makes sense to me. He has had a rough stretch but in the bigger picture consider a few things. Severino has a 2.74 ERA at Yankee Stadium vs. 3.99 on the road. Tanaka has been way better on the road than at home this year too (he'd be game 1 starter at Fenway if Yankees get through Wednesday night). This would the line Severino up on normal rest for the Game 3 start back at Yankee Stadium vs. Boston. This strategy makes sense to me and why I was in the Severino camp even when I was seeing him as the least popular choice all over Twitter.

Luis is our ace, the slump be damned...

Seeing Severino out there is going to make me nervous as hell. I'm still shaken from the egg he laid in last years Wild Card game. That and his last start versus Oakland was a disaster with the passed balls and wild pitches. He better be on top of his game tomorrow.

I think you have to trust Severino to win this game if you’re the Yankees. He’s supposed to be the ace and lead the pitching staff for years to come, so if you can’t trust him now, when can you? If he blows up and the Yankees go down, adding starting pitching becomes even more important this winter. But like I posted the other day, I think this move makes most sense for the Yankees. You beat Oakland with Severino then you have Happ and Tanaka lined up in Boston. Happ “owns” the Red Sox and Tanaka is a lot better away from home.

Seeking relief, A’s to start Hendriks in wild card game

I was under the apparently false impression that the roster a team used for this game was the roster you would have to use throughout the ALDS. So for sure, if the Yanks need more than 10 pitchers, this game is a lost cause anyway. Using Severino is a calculated risk, given how much better Happ and Tanaka have pitched over the past few months. The leash will be extremely short, I have no doubt, so if he isn't on his A-Game, he will be hitting the showers very quickly.
And if he IS on his A-Game, Boone (or more likely Cashman) is a genius playing just the right hunch. If the first two hitters get on base, he's out of there. A strong performance here would be an enormous confidence booster.
A perfect "cautiously optimistic" scenario. That usually translates to "I have a lot of doubts this will work, but it isn't completely impossible."

So both teams are rolling the dice. But I think the A's are taking more of a flyer than the Yanks. Wouldn't this be sort of like the Yankees starting Holder? Or maybe Chad Green?
