Come on, Jetes. The Yankees aren't stupid. I guess El Capitan was sensitive to the idea that he might be offering a Monument Park discount. This looks like a pretty good deal right now for the Phillies. The two minor league pitchers they gave up were considered pretty good prospects, but a far cry from Sanchez and Andujar. Well, the Marlins still did get a Sanchez -- Sixto Sanchez -- but the word here is that he has shown some arm problems and has not responded well to coaching instruction. Of course that could all change. Supposedly Realmuto is best buds with Bryce Harper, and Harper was trying to get the Nats to acquire him. I doubt that means much when it comes to signing contracts, otherwise Machado would have been a White Sox by now.

Come on, Jetes. The Yankees aren't stupid. Lol at that offer. Realmuto is quite the package as a catcher, but at the same time he’s neither the best offensively nor defensively, just beat the top at both aspects. He’s just about as likely to hit .260/12/60 in 2019 as he is to hit .300/20/80. He’s very good at blocking and framing and calling and...But he can’t play two positions at once and fill two spots in the batting order... Shame on you, Derek...

You’re straying a bit too far off the base, noetsi... making you easy to pick off. It’s all about judicious use of every tool at a team’s disposal. That means a mix of home-grown talent (which is an unpredictable and unreliable source of talent at the time it’s needed. Then judicious trades (but since you have to have what the other teams want if they’Rep willing trade partners)and finally when no other reasonable means is present, JUDICIOUS use of the free agent market. You can’t simply will your young talent to come of age exactly when you need them, and most of that talent never does make the MLB... We will have to disagree inger. All rules have limitations. After watching for years of Yankee free agency I prefer the rule I suggested. The bad cases you don't get as result of this rule will be far more important than the good cases you bring in. And we might stress our minor league development and talent acquisition more (scary thought).
Very few teams have ever used free agency well.
No problem here, Russ. There are times when I Can tell you’ve made up your mind and absolutely nothing is going to change it. This was one of those times. One of us is hard-headed. The other is soft-headed. Neither is the best way to be... But, as you know, when you add up an equation if you leave one integer out. You get the wrong answer...yeah...that ain’t changing your mind either... (: You old scudder.. (I have to lay off those Gunsmoke re-runs)...

Except on data analysis, where I change continuously, I rarely change my views inger. Which I am sure you know. Now that I am old I have an excuse for that. You can leave an integer our of an equation in what I do, time series, and be more correct. I once created a formula that was totally wrong (it was factually nonsense), but when I removed it from the model the predictions got worse. So I put the flawed equation back in. I lost my pride a long time ago....

Clean shaven. Almost makes you think he's considering a team with a goofy outdated facial hair policy.

Harper staying with the Nats? Why is it dated January 13, 2017? Yeah, I don't know why this was reposted. I thought it was current news when it's really worthless.

Realmuto will thrive playing half of him his games in the Phil's ballpark.
