Yanks should offer Judge a deal now...8 years, $144M-$160M...buy out his arbitration years, sign him until he is 34 and have great payroll flexibility later as he will never be earning $30M+ per year. Judge gets a huge raise this year and for the next few as he goes through arbitration and gets security in exchange for less up side down the road. I agree that would be great for the Yankees. Why would Judge do that? He and JBJ stand in a position to be the highest paid players in baseball not named Mike Trout. Judge is earning somewhere around $600K this year. Next year is his first arbitration year. Figure he jumps up to a few million. By signing a long term deal now, he increases his current salary significantly and ensures he is set going forward. When you take into account his expected earning over the next 7 years based on his current situation (plus his expected FA signing once he hits that point) and average it out over that time, you probably get to less than $20M per year. Take into account the time value of money and it is actually a better deal for Judge to sign now. Plus it gives the Yankees that payroll flexibility in the future. Win-win. |

Everytime people use initials for names it takes me a while to figure out who they're talking about. |

I have no idea who JBJ is either, but I just ignored it I thought it would take me a few minutes to finally get it but after 5 minutes I still have no idea who JBJ is. Only thing coming to mind is Jon Bones Jones. |

Coincidentally, this article in Wired on attention span just came up in my news feed which possibly explains my Potato Bradley Jr. mishap.
