Looks like the Yankees are bringing back Happ. This isn't a bad signing if he stays healthy, he can clearly pitch in the AL East.

Not too thrilled about going three years but I think other teams would have added the third year and got him if we didn't do it. I'll take it. Hope this doesn't mean we don't continue to explore more starting options though through the trade market if they materialize.

Yeah, we know CC is going to spend some time on the DL, so either Cashman has to add another starter via trade or give one of the kids on the farm a shot.

Figure this means the Yankees starting pitching depth is now...Severino, Tanaka, Paxton, Happ, CC, Gray (technically as of today), Loaisiga, German, Adams, Michael King maybe, and Acevedo may start at AAA so depends on if he develops/wows. Pretty good depth-wise without even making any other moves.

I’m glad they did this. He’ll give us reliable innings. As far as him being here at 38...all he has to be at that poimt is a # 5 starter. He’s already “transitioned” to pitch without a big fast ball...
Good move. As much as I’d still like to nab another upgrade, until we see that it’s pie in the sky. It was wise to clamp down on this one...
Most teams would be thrilled to own Happ as a #3...maybe even a #2...

He never wowed me, but he sure makes a nice backup plan...

Yeah, he's not an ace, but slots in pretty well as a #4 or #5 starter.

This staff is now beginning to match up better with Boston’s. Plus Boston is said to be shopping Porcello. He led their team in wins and innings pitched last season with 17 and 191. No one else threw more than 176. Who knows how many innings “String Bean” Sale will throw before he folds? Lots of innings to give up in Porcello, still no real bullpen solution.
I guess the braintrust assumes that Eovaldi can replace Porcello and that Pomeranz will be reviving his career.
They’re also said to be shopping Moreland, Bogaerts and Bradley...I’d be surprised if Bogaerts goes anywhere, but I only see his defense as average at SS...
Pedie will save them!!!

Yeah, he's not an ace, but slots in pretty well as a #4 or #5 starter. And of course, still young and learning...He could be a decent trade piece down the road, or the security we keep to trade someone else. I’m not going to spit on Syndergaard or Bauer at this point, but if those wild scenarios don’t come about I feel we’re more solid now...

"Tequila, WE just resigned HAPP, what do you think?"
T--"How Old?'
"Happ is 36-years old..."
T-"Oh SHIT."
Well at least we will have a BUNCH of Retreads still trying to play; but probably will get injured or underperform = CC, Ellsbury, Gardner, Happ, etc.
I think I need a stiff DRINK?
T-"Get me one too..."

Just read this on riveraveblues.com
"Update: Rosenthal walked his report back. Now he’s saying the two sides are close to a deal but it has not yet been agreed to. This morning we heard the Phillies were “bringing it” in their pursuit of Happ. Maybe that spurred the Yankees into action. Anyway, stay tuned."

Let's just hope the Red Sox do not swoop in and sign Harper. Bradley is wonderful defensively, but Boston really has three center-fielders. Betts or Benintendi could handle center. Harper could fit in right or left field for the Red Sox.
