Would have loved to make a big ace splash (not sure that was out there for an appropriate price though) but I am happy with these rotation moves Paxton has the ability to be a big ace splash. Has to prove he can eat up innings for that to be the case. Heading into his 30s and has never thrown more than 160 in a year.

True. Don’t understand why the Yankees didn’t grab the best pitcher available when all he cost was money. Happ is ok, but the team needed a difference maker not just ok.

Simply being the best available doesnt mean a guy is necessarily worth the years or money. I think folks pumped up Corbin too much. I would have been fine with signing him on the right deal but am not heartbroken that they didnt sign him for 6 years at $23mm per. Lets not forget that Corbin has one had only a single full season in which he produced like a top of the rotation starter (the type of starter he is getting paid like now). And it came in the National League, in perhaps the weakest offensive division in baseball. He also is a guy with a TJS under his belt (making the extra years on the back-end of the deal that much riskier).

I hope for the best for Brandy. We had to put down our Goldendoodle, Dory because of throat cancer. She was only 4 years old, it was horrible. That kind of stuff is super-miserable. I lost my first mastiff to cancer of the femur at 3 1/2. Brandy is 6 now. Headed for the golden years for her breed...I ache for your loss even now... We have mastiffs, too. Lost our big girl Katie-bug (220#) to cancer four years ago. Same thing - started yipping and we took her to the vet. We have two right now (Greta and Libby-Lou). Such loyal and loving dogs.

The mastiffs are surprisingly big shedders, but at least the fur doesn’t take over your life... (Though I will admit I find the Tibetan Mastiffs very tempting)...

We like the Old English Mastiff breed, but they do shed more than one would think. China over bred the Tibetan, and they are actually affordable (kinda) now.

We like the Old English Mastiff breed, but they do shed more than one would think. China over bred the Tibetan, and they are actually affordable (kinda) now. My first one was a Bull Mastiff, and he was soooo mellow. Brandy is what they call a Doubull Mastiff, half English and half Bull. She’s been surprisingly active and much more agile (up to now) than I anticipated. I wonder if the Bull had cancer long before it was diagnosed. Mostly just laid around, but was very excited to take walks on a lead... Both were adopted from people that got large breed dogs that had no idea what they were getting into...We got the Bull (Bruno) when was 1 1/2 yr old and Brandy when she was 14 months old...I considered both dogs to have been abused, though unintentionally by the original owner, so have been very pleased to take them off their hands. Heck, probably should have started a pet thread, but it just sort of poured out of me when I was posting. Brandy is resting well today at home on her pain meds. Once we get past this pain issue, we’ll take her for more thorough testing and hope the cancer thing was just a scare...

From RAB:
The contract is finally official. The Yankees announced it earlier today. Happ gets $17M in 2019 and $17M in 2020 with the $17M vesting option for 2021. Joel Sherman says the option vests with 165 innings or 27 starts in 2021, which are quite reasonable terms. There is no buyout on the option, so Happ comes with a $17M luxury tax hit through the life of the contract.
