The problem we have is that every body that was put has come back. They’re not in the proper condition to perform at their top level. The guys they’re replacing have worked their asses off to cover for them and are now being pushed aside. Team chemistry has been disturbed. Everybody back to the IL. Send in the backups!... I agree with that in some respects but not others. Sanchez gives us our best chance at Catcher. If Stanton can play he’s a difference maker. If Tauchman was healthy I’d want him in. I agreed with leaving Voit off. Encarnacion looks lost and all he brings to the team is the bat so Ford could do that if they want to decide he’s injured.

It is hard for me to believe if Stanton and Tauchman could play they would not be playing. I think its pretty obvious they can't.

Was it worth it to have Cashman's guy back to hit the HR in Game 5 of the playoffs delaying his Tommy John?
I guess signing Gardner is now a must unless you are comfortable with Tauchman starting at CF.

I wonder how much difference it would have made. Anyway,Hicks will keep his streak alive of being on the IL at least once every year in what will be his eighth year. The only time in his entire career that he stayed healthy long enough to get at least 100 hits was his year before free agency, and it netted him a seven year contract. He is far beyond question physically incapable of playing a full season of baseball. You don't get healthier as you move into your 30s. He's a lost cause, but not a terribly expensive one, and he may on occasion provide a few months of decent play from time to time. Going forward, the Yankees have to find themselves a centerfielder. At least now they know for sure. Better that than thinking they are set there for the next five or six years.

Tauchman seems like worth a try. Also maybe this increases the chances of bringing Maybin back. Marte is a possibility to consider for sure.
I thought Gardner would be washed up this year, so I already got that one wrong. I can't believe he could be that productive for yet another season, but my track record on him is already bad enough that I don't have the chutzpah to make any predictions for him.

I’d look to the combo of Gardner/Tauchman/Maybin. I believe all of the three were in a zone that was helped greatly by the baseballs used in 2019, but Hicks will be showing up at some point. We still have Stanton to be a part of the mix. I’m not in favor of him playing in the field, but I’m realistic enough to know he will.
Marte is turning 31, so unless he’s a closet Yankee fan that wants to hand us an opportunity similar to the one we got when DJLM forced us to sign him, I’d stay away.
Don’t forget that we may have to accommodate the return of Jacob the Great in 2020...And if we don’t trade him, we have Red Thunder at the ready. He’s prepared to drive on nearly as many as he lets in.
It’s disappointing because without Hicks the outfield takes on an entirely different look. Questions arise by the bunch. Can Gardner stretch his talent another year? Was Tauchman a one hit wonder? What of Maybin? I have less faith in him than the others...
We’re likely an outfielder short. Who else is out there? I don’t think there are any other free agents I’d want. Who to deal for? Until I can reconcile those questions, I’d take the status quo...It worked pretty well in 2019...

Oh, BTW... Adam Jones? Kaybli, thou hast shames thyself. No. Just no... There were slim pickins in the centerfield free agent class.

Oh, BTW... Adam Jones? Kaybli, thou hast shames thyself. No. Just no... There were slim pickins in the centerfield free agent class. You know what? I’m going to have to recant on Marte. In my mind, was thinking of him as a free agent, but he’s still under contract at reasonable terms, and for only two years. Under those circumstances he would be a good get. He hasn’t won the somewhat meaningless gold glove since 2016, but in YS3 and with Gardner/ Tauchman also on the roster, he becomes an intriguing player who work in CF or LF with the other two. I wouldn’t do Deivi Garcia for him, but for a reasonable deal... I can think of worse two year stop gaps. The one hangup I still have is that he’d be yet another RHH. Pittsburgh is a tough trade partner to figure out. They don’t seem to believe that they need a total rebuild. Do they want prospects? MLB talent? A combination of both? Who would play centerfield for them? Maybe Tauchman would be a piece on the trade going back?. Tauchman himself is interesting. One year wonder? Emerging star? Love his defense...Hope the offense was for real...

Don’t be surprised if the Yankees experiment with Andujar in left field.

So, we already have an injury thread for next season...good grief Charlie Brown...

[img alt=" " src="//storage.proboards.com/6828121/images/udcwFqPimnXDtjoTmoVL.gif" class="smile"] There were slim pickins in the centerfield free agent class. You know what? I’m going to have to recant on Marte. In my mind, was thinking of him as a free agent, but he’s still under contract at reasonable terms, and for only two years. Marte has a $11.5MM club option for 2020 with a $2MM buyout.
