As disappointing as Bird has been is about equal to how much Frazier has been a terrific surprise at this point...That’s the way it is with young players. It’s so hard to figure which ones have that special something that lets them rise above...

Tauchman came much closer to beating that out than I expected. He can boogie down the line...Who says white guys can’t boogie?...

The Yankees first base defense has been lousy this season, Voit needs to make that play.

Voit should lIe down before Tanaka pitches to Hamilton so he covers more ground on the ground ball... (:

It’s so hard to figure which ones have that special something that lets them rise above... They’re almost opposites as players. Bird has no batspeed to speak of and Frazier has a lightning fast bat. They’re probably both below average fielders but you can imagine Clint getting to be at least a mediocre fielder.

Great work by Tanaka (with an assist by Glyber) to strand that runner at third.

When the scouting report said that Tauchman could play CF, I figured he has some wheels. I checked his minor league stats and was surprised to see that he’s stolen over 100 bases at various stops, with as many as 25 in one season...His success % is a bit low. I didn’t tally it. But it appears to be around 70% more or less...

Voit looked so relaxed last season, sort of like he knew he was going to hit, and that it was all fun. This year he looks like a guy that’s trying to prove he belongs in the lineup. Like he’s pressing, and looking for balls to pull at times, too...
