I was never a big fan of Kate Smith, but now I find the stretch a bit ho-hum. I hope they don’t find any dirt on the organist. They may have to ask the crowd to start humming... I’m glad they got rid of it, although the reasoning behind it is confounding. We don’t need all of this pseudo patriotism forced into a sporting event. I suppose when you come right down to it, the 7th inning stretch itself is not really needed. One more thing to eliminate to shorten games... It really doesn’t accomplish anything. There are plenty of commercials to allow us to grab a bite or drink at home, and it’s nowhere near long enough to got to concessions or the rest room at the stadium...

Maybe Holder can retire a .118 hitter?...

Maybe Holder can retire a .118 hitter?... It's been a rough April for Mr. Holder.

A real nice win over shadowed by Judge's injury.

Nice win for sure. The Yankees went five consecutive days without a player going on the injured list, their longest stretch since some time back in spring training, so we were due.
I heard Cone talking about how cutting-edge the Yankees training staff is. If that is true, just imagine how many injuries this team would have with a substandard staff.
April 20 and the Yankees have already had 14 players on the IL (assuming that Judge is headed there). Since typically more injuries occur as the season goes on, the Yankees have a real shot at having nearly their entire 40 man roster go down at some point. Last year the Yankees had 20 players on the DL, accounting for 23 total DL stints. And we thought that was a lot!

It’s hard to take injuries in stride, especially to a guy like Judge. You have to though. It’s a natural part of the game. All you can do is hope that others step up, and the overall strength of the team is such that they can hold the fort and stay in contention.
You hope the guys that had a poor spring, like Frazier, can come in hot. You hope the pick up you thought was insignificant, like Tauchman, can become meaningful contributors.
You have to count on guys like Voit, who has not shown himself to be the hitter he was last year. Whether it’s intended to be that way or not, the team becomes a bit more like the starless 1998 squad that gelled so well as a group as to make them strong.
The team is playing some weaker competition once again, but this time around we don’t seem as likely to kick games away. The fielding is still not great, but it’s tightened up a bit. There are still enough bats to score runs... One day soon, the bullpen will settle in to help...

I know they aren't getting fired even if every single player in the organization gets injured. But I would like to think that they are at least reviewing some of their practices. And maybe they are. This has really gotten beyond ridiculous and it gets harder and harder to attribute it to bad luck. No other team in baseball has anywhere close to this number of meaningful injuries.

One upside of this is that if the Yankees do make it to the post-season, they will be well-rested. So there is that.
