I’m not as warm and fuzzy on Bumgarner as some. The teeth are growing long. The same with Greinke. For a big splash, I’d rather chase Strasburg. To work a deal with the Diamondbacks, I might be more tempted to go after the AJ Burnett-like talents of Robbie Ray. I’d surely like to check in on Matthew Boyd in Detroit, and Lukas Giolotto <sp?> in Chicago. If we want to go the veteran route and look for depth, Danny Duffy is an unexciting option that could be a fit. I know he’s not having a good season, but I still like Lopez in Chicago, too. But I like him more as a project to stash in AAA and see if we can find the key to finishing him as a pitcher. Great “stuff” guy... MadBum is not the guy he once was. But his velo is up, he's just 29, he's been pitching pretty well, and stepping back into a winning environment could provide a spark. i like Boyd, too. But the cost would be significantly higher. I do like Bumgarner’s post season experience put into the equation. To me it’s like being rejected by the lead cheerleader and the second cheerleader. After a while the girl that barely made the squad starts looking pretty good, too. I wouldn’t be upset if Bum or Greinke wound up on the team... And I’d certainly be pulling for them...

I just wanted to highlight this because we may never again see such a quote on this forum.

I just wanted to highlight this because we may never again see such a quote on this forum. Lol. Poor Russ. He has his lucid moments. I like to let him savor them...And for that matter, I savor them, too. I think if you add up all my posts in the scout years, the Prodigy years, and this forum, I’m probably near 50,000 posts give or take... Russ probably claims 125,000 or so. I think I’m a blabberer. I can’t imagine all those years of posting...

If the price is reasonable, I wouldn't be opposed to taking a flyer on MadBum. I fully understand that he isn't what he was, but maybe we get a Verlander-type bounce-back of a once-great pitcher rediscovering himself with a contending team. His ERA+ is still above league average this year.
A long-shot for certain. But under the right conditions, worth considering. At this point, I would trust whatever Cashman decides.

What about the Yanks signing Kimbrel? Another arm in the pen?...I’m not crazy about the idea, but it sure would be a slap to Boston’s face...

I would take a flier on Kuechel at this point. Never know with CC's health, havent really heard anything about Severino, and Happ has been very inconsistent.

We could also add Kennedy to the bullpen, then nab Melky back to replace Frazier and we’d have our famous trade triumvirate back in pinstripes, ready to deal for King Felix at a moment’s notice!!!
