I think the 17.9 people-rated was fair. How long will it take Beardie Boy to be ready to pitch? How effective will he be? Give me a kid that still has a bit of fuzz on his cheeks and a big arm that we can control for another three years. We need a longer term solution... Matt Boyd would be a great add... That'll cost prospects. Beardie Boy just cost money. We have the riches. Trade them for what we need to win. That’s how it’s supposed to be...

I hope Cash has something else up his sleeve because this team could use another starter. I think now they'll make a trade and I expect Clint Frazier is headed out of town. Hopefully we can keep Estrada.

Another success story for Boras.

Just as I feared:
Keuchel’s contract is indeed for one year, reports Yahoo’s Tim Brown. He’ll be paid $13MM between now and season’s end, which is a bit more than the $11.16MM he’d have made on a prorated deal worth the same amount as the $17.9MM qualifying offer. (ESPN’s Jeff Passan adds that his base salary is technically around $20MM, and the $13MM represents the prorated version of that sum.)
The Yankees couldn't offer him 2 million more? Cheap cheap cheap cheap!

I don't think we will get away with dealing just one of them plus prospects we don't care about. Cessa will be thrown in as he's out of options but he'll be filler.

I hope I'm wrong and hope now that Keuchel falls on his face with the Braves but being outbid for a player you want for 2 million is just stupid.

They will have to trade two quality prospects plus something else. They don't have that many that people will be interested in. Those two and German are the starting bid and you hope to keep one of those three. Depending on who's available I guess it could be worth it. If they trade that for Madison Baumgarner I will be annoyed.

I like when the Yankees are disciplined. Maybe this is the time it was a mistake, but usually when they draw the line it has been to their benefit. I can think of many examples of that. Keuchel would have helped but he's not a sure thing and not the only option for help. Discipline is a good quality in the management of any business.

German should be pretty much untouchable unless you're getting a young ace type back. I would like to hold on to Frazier as well. His fielding yips can be overcome and he's already shown he can be an offensive force. I have a bad feeling not getting Keuchel will lead to a chain reaction where we have to trade German or Frazier for something that isn't a major upgrade over Keuchel in the first place. But hey, at least we saved that 2 million.

But in this specific example, when you're spending 200 million plus, you can't spend the difference of another 2 million to get the player you need? That's just penny wise and pound foolish.

There are only so many Luke Voit and Didi Gregorious miracle trades to be had. We'll see. Possible their decision was based on what they know and we don't about Severino and Montgomery, both of whom I prefer to Keuchel when healthy.

I think he was the best option considering he would cost only money. And the fact that we could have gotten Keuchel AND looked at the trade market if needed later anyway. Hey, but what do I know? I hope Keuchel pitches terribly for the Braves so we don't regret not signing him.
