Check your guys in B-R before posting(only takes a minute or so). We’re looking for at least a 40-point diff in OPS + to qualify (between best and 2nd best year)...

Although they did play the same position. We're covered at first. I should have mentioned that Gentile did not qualify for rate stats in 1960. He was just coming into his own that season. I don’t mind that his AN we’re a bit short, because he played a “representative number# of games. I also wasn’t thrilled that he had those two seasons back to back, but I guess that’s okay, too. Better that he backs Cash up at 1B. Think he played a bit of OF, too. Handy backup player... (: Another beetle-browed player.

This is a tough assignment, Inger. Hard to cheat on this one. I know. I thought I had a sure shot with Dave Johnson’s ‘73 season when he hit .270/43/99 OPS+ 143. Then I see that his ‘71 season was OPS + 125 at .283/18/83. It puts that season into a different perspective, just as Brady Anderson's 50 HR season was not included perhaps makes us appreciate his legitimacy, which I had always doubted... Now I feel like an Oriole lover... So I’ll mention Joe Torre, too. I initially thought he’d be there. This appears to be a rather exclusive club to make...

My immediate thought, though it doesn’t make your criteria, was Angel Berroa, who stole Matsui’s RoY Award. He had an OPS of .789 in 2003. Next highest was .693 and the rest below. Out of the league after 2009 season.

Out of the league after 2009 season. He’s a good thought, but is there a 40 point spread in his OPS +? Of course as you said he doesn’t make the criteria. I feared that at 50 points the spread would be too far and at 30, we’d invite a flood of players... I still think mentioning Angel and the Joe Charboneaus of the world is a nice chance to remember ‘, though... Even Kevin Maas will bring a smile to our faces..,

Tommy Harper had a 34 point swing from his best to his next best, but no cigar. Cash may be the only player who meets all your criteria.

Luis Gonzalez is close...37 points. I thought of him initially, but in looking at his stats it appears he used for several years to build his body from wimp to Hercules...It was a semi-gradual improvement...
