Foiled again, as Snuffy Stirnweiss posted back to back years of 139 and 145 for his only two years over 96.
I wondered if the WW2 or even WW1 years might be a rich field to seek in, but since the wars were multiyear wars, many of the Stars if those years may have been good for multiple seasons...

inger....trying to remember another, and I remember the 1947 Braves got exceptional play out of Sibby Sisti….I don't know if that meets your overall criteria...edit....sorry if I have put you through needless work, I guess I don't understand the criteria except an unusually (for him) good year at bat....

Tino Martinez 1997. Highly suspect.

We have a catcher. Rick Wilkins blasted 30 HR entities to a 151 OPS + for the 1993 Cubs. The only other year he was a qualified batters he posted a 102 OPS, but he hung around for 9 years because... he was a catcher...

Tino Martinez 1997. Highly suspect. Agree that season was suspect, but he had a season within 9 points of OPS of that one a couple of years before...

Nope. So I was only a bench player after he returned from the war. His OPS in that 47 season was his career high water mark at a paltry 100, but he was regularly in the 80’s to 90’s...

I like your thinking though. I think that Cash and Gentile may have had us thinking a bit of players that were a little too good to have just one good season...

Hey mine met the criteria.... ok ok he was small fish If you mean Hamelin, he did not meet the criteria for several reasons. One, his second best season was only 25 points less than his first. Two, he was never a full time player. Never even had a 400 AB season. Three, there must be something else... oh yeah... he only played 6 seasons of the required 8 seasons. I would have taken him if that was all at this point...

Billy Grabarkewitz is our utility infielder... sort of. He posted up at 134 in his rookie season of 1970, but never qualified again due to a gruesome injury. He only appeared in 7 seasons rather than eight, but gay seems okay if he’s just going to ride the bench, at least to me...
We have a back up outfielder and a back up infielder now. Maybe that’s a helpful clue to continue the search...

inger this was the criteria you set in your first post.
I’m thinking more like guys who popped for a season that was, let’s say... at least 40 OPS+ points higher than any other season they ever had, and that they’d have to have at least an eight year career...I’m thinking Jim Gentile and Norm Cash, 1961.

How did I forget until now to check Ken “Hawk” Harrelson’s 1968 season? 155-115, just sneaks on the door...
1B/RF... we’re loaded at 1B, so make that RF-DH-LF...

I agree. As I said with Hamelin, I would have taken him if it was just the time served issue. I also will gladly honor a protest and issue Billy G. His unconditional release... Rule is rules, Here are you’re walking papers, Billy G.. Please understand, it’s not me, it’s the bean counters... (:
