Well, I don't think Hunter Pence is a homicidal maniac. Although I guess anything is possible.

Mental illness takes many forms. Not all mentally ill folks hurt others. Not all people that hurt others present as mentally ill. I would say that those that hide and harbor deep resentment and anger are the most likely to implode.
I would say most people that would do the little skit we saw Pence do are in the harmless category. In fact, I have done that little number as a goof more than once in my life. There’s also one where I’ve faux picked my nose that I’ve done for the grandkids and at least once when a co-worker was passing me on the highway (which he greatly enjoyed).
So... now you have s choice. You can expect that the appointment I have tonight is a business appointment, or you can hurriedly attempt to find out where I’m going and warn the family...

I was looking at Mateo’s numbers again. He’s hitting .292 with 17 HR and 73 RBI. He’s hit 27 doubles and 14 triples while stealing 23 bases. On the downside he has several team mates that don’t exactly strike fear in the hearts of most opposing fans that have numbers that tell you a bit about the environment the Las Vegas team plays in. They also of course travel to some high altitude cities in their league. Caleb Joseph has hit .370 this year for that team. If I recall correctly there are six players with a higher BA than Mateo and about the same with more HR and RBI. I think he was in a three way tie for fourth on the team in doubles. But those triples were all his. Some of his other team mates were ex-MLB guys that were pounding the ball in the context of what they did in MLB, too. I’m sorry, I forgot who they were. I remember thinking he could steal 50 or more bases per year with that blazing speed. Even though he’s nabbed 23 this season, he’s been caught 11 times. His fielding suggests more that he won’t wind up at SS than that he will. He sees some time at second base now. The centerfield experiment over with nearly as fast as it began. I hate to smell failure on a player. I’d still like to see him become more than nothing. What I fear is that he’s continuing to survive on his raw talent. That might be enough to get him some MLB time. Utility? Starter on a weaker team willing to take a chance? DH? I don’t know, but as much as I hated to see him go, I know the Yanks made the right choice to move him... The way he responded to Torres and Andujar being promoted said a lot to me. I think Cashman cares a lot about how kids carry themselves and what kind of character they have and that played a part in them moving Mateo and probably is part of the reason Frazier is where he is today and guys like Tauchman and Ford have been given extended chances to contribute.
