The smell is just as bad as the taste. Oh, I agree. And don’t get me started on Kim-Chee, or however it’s spelled…. That goodness she wouldn’t eat that. Former co-workers brought it to work once and I thought the septic tank was backed up into the building…if you’re gonna eat something that smells lime human waste, eat it at home… Lol!

I've tried to like saurkraut and tried it from numerous restaurants and grocery stores and jars. At best I've developed a tolerance for it. I've given up. It's never what I order. There are much worse foods, unfortunately. At what point will you stop trying it? … 🤓 Good point. Maybe only when I'm in a German restaurant. There aren't many in eastern NC so any future "trials" are likely to be quite infrequent.

When I married Sarah - of German ancestry and born in Minnesota - I knew as a southern boy that there would be some new dishes I'd be obligated to try. Unlike Inger, I didn't score anything on that Facebook survey of foods you've never tried. Sauerkraut was something Sarah's dad loved. And, I must admit, it wasn't bad on hot dogs. Now, the Sauerkraut pizza he ordered, I could have done without. Somethings are fine in small amounts. Like cilantro.

Actually I did try many of those foods, but I will confess that there is such a thing as a food that appears so unsavory that I won’t try it…

I'll try anything once except the really gross stuff like bugs or bull penis.

I was stationed in Seoul for a year while in the Air Force. When I say that the smell of kimchi permeates that city, it's no exaggeration. Riding on the packed subways, the smell just wafts off of the Koreans. I cannot stomach the smell to this day. Barf.

My wife loves sauerkraut...to me it's just rotten cabbage. My dad loves sauerkraut, so every New Years Day our house reeked of it. Certainly one thing I don't miss since I moved to the midwest. I'm of Czech heritage on my dad's side, grandparents off the boat from Czechoslovakia, so growing up every time I went to their house we had sauerkraut, kielbasa, and pierogies. It's one of those smells that just takes me back to that time. However, for all the great memories tied to it, I never liked eating sauerkraut...not my thing. I do still live kielbasa nd pierogies, though.
