It was already reported that Stanton would approve a deal to the Yankees.

I'm really surprised given everything Hal said about staying under the payroll threshold. I wouldn't have done it but there's no question it improves the team considerably for this season. In the short term it will be great.

In the short term it will be great. Depending on the details of the trade we could still be under the payroll threshold even with this move. Stanton counts 25 million against the cap in 2018. That could almost be totally offset by say Starlin Castro and Chase Headley's contracts. And the Marlins could kick in some money too. So let's wait to judge the deal when we hear all the details. That being said, I'm very excited!

That being said, I'm very excited! Ellsbury will almost certainly be traded as well in a separate deal. They won't get full financial relief, but they shouldn't have too much trouble unloading 25-50% of his contract depending on what kind of return they are looking for.

Sounds like Castro is going to the Marlins. Opportunity for Gleyber! Let Wade hold down the position for a couple of weeks to gain a year of service time and then call up Gleyber to lock it down.

Thoughts:
At the very least, our DH problem is fixed.
Great, another guy who hits the ball hard. Haven't we learned from Noetsi that bunting and softly steering the ball away from defenders is the way to go.
Pick-up basketball just got even tougher on AL East teams.
Andujar at third and Torres at second...okay. But, what about Torreyes?
As long as Ellsbury is gone, it can forever be argued that the Yankees won this trade.
Now how much is a dog and a beer at the Stadium?
Unlike Cano, Stanton doesn't mind batting second.
What is your batting order for Stanton, Sanchez, Bird, Torres, Didi, Andujar, Frazier, Gardner and Judge?
