Dylan is never gonna be mistaken for Josh Groban... Ha ha, could you imagine Dylan singing at the end of Polar Express? There are many popular singers who wouldn't be described as having great voices...IMO Frank Sinatra being one, Elvis another.

If I were to create the perfect Pearl Jam album tracklist consisting of songs I like from the band…it would look something like this:
1. Once 2. Even Flow 3. Spin The Black Circle 4. Nothingman 5. Just Breathe 6. Black 7. I Am Mine 8. Thumbing My Way 9. Rats 10. Oceans 11. Garden 12. Better Man 13. Speed Of Sound 14. Immortality 15. Indifference 16. The End

This is in defense of Tom Waite's voice? I don't think either are good singers but they both write great songs! True enough.

Dylan is never gonna be mistaken for Josh Groban... Dylan is another voice I really can't get into. His songs always seem better when someone else does them. inger will know this--Rod Stewart did a Dylan cover on 4 or 5 straight solo albums starting with the album Gasoline Alley. Stewart's version always had a melody--something more or less missing from the originals.

As a Byrds fan, their versions of "Tambourine Man", "My Back Pages", etc. are obviously much more melodic, but his are also appealing.

But I'd have to add two of my favorite Pearl Jam songs as encores, Why Go and Rearviewmirror.

At times he more mumbles than sings. This is in defense of Tom Waite's voice? Excellent point! Or as Springsteen or Waites might say, "Exshalun poirit."

And yeah, I completely forgot about those two PJ songs you mentioned (I’m a big fan of Why Go also and I, of course love Rearviewmirror).

Let me ask an unrelated question. What are "Dad Jokes" Are they popularized in the Midwest? I'm I from a generation that is not cool enough to employ or recognize it? Are they jokes relatable to dads? Unless I live under a rock, I'm not familiar with it's usage. Or perhaps it's not a NYC thing?

They're just endearingly corny clean jokes, especially puns, supposedly told by dads. Often wholesome and predictable.
Some examples:
Why shouldn't you tell secrets in a cornfield? There are too many ears all around. What kind of underpants do lawyers wear? Briefs. What do you call it when a cow grows facial hair? A moo-stache. Did you hear about the two rowboats that got into an argument? It was an oar-deal. Did you hear about the cleaners who went to space? They ended up scrubbing the mission.

Now my eyes will be rolling all day. Ever tried to watch a ballgame with rolling eyes? Two of them?…
