In 1964 when Louis Armstrong hit #1 on the Billboard top 100 he became the oldest artist to hit #1, at 62 years of age with “Hello Dolly”... Yep. I do remember that. Very well in fact. I was ten years old that year...

Many would have made the list posthumously...But most likely on the “Easy Listening” charts, now known as “Adult Contemporary”... The Rock and Roll and Country charts would have been empty. (Waiting to be invented). Also known as B.E., or Before Elvis... |

One of the most underrated bands. This song just makes me happy, back to hot summers in my youth: Great song! Check out those afros! Lots of hair and music in the early 1970s! I was just a wee lad, but I recall fros, pony tails, beards, braids - no man buns, though, which to me is a good thing. My hair never got longer than shoulder length. My dad cut my hair until I was about 15 years old - god awful haircuts and usually painful. I avoided his haircuts as long as I could, but he would never let me have the “damn dirty hippie” look! |

My hair was a bit shy of shoulder-length. My sneaky older brother had been in the military after having a “duck tail” in the late fifties, and kept his buzzed look for a long time. I figured out that he was calling my barber and had to tell the barber that it was cut it my way or else. Damn it, I was paying for my haircuts, not my brother! When I got married time #1 my hair was below my ears...
