You should have picked up on my lack musical tech when I mentioned having the Marley Sound System on blue tooth... No blue tooth is pretty advanced. I have all my songs on my phone. No CD player required. [img alt=" " class="smile" src="//storage.proboards.com/6828121/images/fcnNQOhDRpAUbgaHxUdZ.gif"] Yeah. I kind of forget about that technology. The iPhone I carry is a work phone, and by the time work is over, I'm only too happy to not be playing around with it. I'm not big on extra aps and that sort of thing for it. In my eyes, it's a money-making tool...I used to have a flip phone years ago...but most of my cell phones have been provided by my various employers through the years... I do still have a pile of CDs, but they don't get used hardly at all. We still own some vinyl, too...but again...seldom used...We play You Tube or Vimeo vids for our music most of the time...both on the computer and the TV...

YouTube is great for browsing new songs, but the sound quality isn't that great. Once I find a song I like on youtube, I download it from Amazon onto my computer in mp3 form then sync it to my Iphone. I also have Spotify.

So, how much does it cost to download and own a song? I've never done that, I'm strictly for pirating...I used to use Groove-something, and they eventually got shut down for not paying royalties. I've signed up for Spotify before, but never subscribed. There was another site like that...started with a "J". I used to listen on there too...but never subscribed...I'm a tight bass-turd...

So, how much does it cost to download and own a song? 99 cents to $1.29 on Amazon per song. Spotify is a good deal. 10 bucks a month and you can stream basically any song out there. Apple Music is good too. Youtube is the best for cheapos. Or you can just download the pirated versions from any number of sites out there.

Ten bucks is pretty good, even if you don't stream, just get to listen to what you want when you want. I remember now, it was Grooveshark that I used to use. I think they made a legal comeback, paying royalties and all, but I don't know if they were able to survive with the other sites already in place...

Here's another fine piece of music for you "(Always Something) Breaking Us In Two", Joe Jackson... For something very different and from the 60's, give Tommy James and the Shondells a try..."Crimson and Clover" and/or "Crystal Blue Persuasion"...

Lol. It does surprise me how the music lives on, and how it crosses generational, cultural and ethnic boundaries...

Definitely have to invest in Spotify if you're a music lover. Ten bucks a month for every song in the world just about. I also have the Shazam ap so I can face my phone up to any song I happen to hear and it identifies it and takes me straight to Spotify so I can add it on my play lists. The ap is free.

Hi Chuck! When I was just a young lad I used to dream that it would be so cool if we could just hear any song we wanted to at any time. If I was a better American I'd find somebody to sue now and get paid for that "intellectual property" I owned so many years ago...It's incredible to think what's available these days in comparison to the 1950's and 1960's...

Spotify also has a family plan, 4 premium accounts for $15 a month. Works great for myself, the wife and our two kids, we all have our own separate accounts.

I'm not a huge fan of what they call Americana music ( a loose affiliation of alt country, singer songwriter stuff), but I do like Sturgill Simpson, Gillian Welch and Jeffrey Foucault along with Jason Isbel.
