Well, thats the season boys. I had fun watching as short as the season was. Pretty pissed at Chapman right about now. Two straight years of giving up the big HR to send us home. Yea, our hitters didn't really come through but I expected a low scoring affair and in a tie game Chapman has to hold them. Can't believe we have to support the stupid Rays now against the Asterisks. Go NL for sure. It was fun talking to everyone on here though.
Three things I'm thankful for: 1. We actually finished the baseball season (not a given with COVID)
2. Our lineup was fully healthy down the stretch. 3. I got to share the season and the playoffs with all you guys, my good friends here on the board!
Can't ask for much more than that.
On to Hotstove Season! Spring Training will be here sooner than you know!
Thanks for keeping this place going. Really appreciate it.

In regards to your chapman comment yea it's annoying, but in both situation if he doesn't give it up its still tied and no guarantee the Yankees ever score again since in both situations they were the away team.
One thing they just haven't been able to do much the last 10 years that they really should work on is getting home home field.
There seems to be a pattern where the Yankees can keep it close or even be on the verge of winning a series the last few years, but once they get to that final game or couple games they just disappear. I don't really count 2018 too much, because that Red Sox team won almost 110 games and after they killed the Yankees in Game 3 it was hard to expect much.
Anyway, but in 2017, 2019, and now 2020 all the same. Early on in these series they look great, but they they always falter at some point, but seem to get it to the clinching game or close to the clinching game but all of a sudden the guy on 2 days rest throws two + scoreless innings. Relievers throwing loads of balls get swung at by the Yankees, and they can't score for their lives. I dunno the fix for this, because every year we seem to get someone improving, or someone new, or someone that makes the lineup look great at times, but then that deciding game in the playoffs comes and the whole team goes cold.
We can credit the Astros and Rays pitching all we want, but it's like you just hit these guys a day or two ago and now they've made that many adjustments in such a short time that you can't anymore? Cy Young Morton and Mccullers and now 2 days rest Glasnow and a bunch of relievers they saw multiple times this series and had success on most of them.
Like what is the solution here? Cole gave up 1 hit and 1 run. Britton gave up nothing. Chapman gave up a HR. Can only complain about the pitching so much. This team scored more than 2 runs how many times this year?
Also a lot of the Rays relievers throw a lot of balls why are the swinging at those pitches?
I guess the one thing about those 90's dynasty teams when did they ever go to deciding games? Even those Indians and Braves teams that were competitive against them didn't go to Game 7's.
They did in 95, 97, 00, and 01 and they didn't win the World Series in 3 of those years. When these teams won in the other years they ended series before that.
We honestly in this series had Boone think about his game 4 plan when he was up 1-0 and could have swept the series hypothetically.
I guess its just getting too by the book and the thing is if you have a team that can score as much as the Yankees can stop playing these stupid decision games and just play to your strengths.
I dunno it's just disappointing. Especially with the Astros starting rotation not being the same and not having to play in Houston itself.

Interesting composite box score. The two times the pitching is the most vulnerable is the first and last innings and the Yankees had a combine 1 run in 5 games in those innings.
Just really surprising the Rays score 2 runs on 3 hits in this game and the Yankees can't do better than that.

The bats definitely get a lot of the blame today for sure. You aren't going to win many games with three hits. Then again the Rays only had three hits too so....
Our approach at the plate could have been better. A lot of swinging at balls today and swinging at 3-0 pitches into outs. I still think Frazier should have started over Gardner. And using Ford over him was asinine.
It's definitely disappointing, I feel your pain. A 7 game series with the Asterisks would have been lots of fun. I think we could have beat those fools.

The Yankees overall get a lot of walks, but how many of those walks seem to help them? It always seems like someone is on base, but so many times they never come into score. That always amazes me, because I feel the lineup has enough protection and less black holes where that shouldn't happen that much. Though I agree swinging on 3-0 is a waste of an out most times and I dunno if we are done with the Frazier/Gardner debate something tells me they pickup Gardner for 10 mil when all its doing is holding back Fraziers development. I don't think Sanchez problems can be fixed though. Just watching the post game press conferences was depressing the players themselves couldn't believe they could lose this game 2-1 with the setup they had.

Also I feel like Hicks needs to be repositioned in the lineup.
.389/.455/.444/.899
That was his numbers this series, but he only had 3 RBI.
Thats just not someone who should be batting third.
Maybe him and DJLM should be 1-2 and Judge drop a bit? You want the first two spots to be table setters and I feel like Judge's HR power is more useable somewhere else in the lineup since DJLM has about a 20 hr power himself if they resign him.

Also amazing the second they put in Sanchez the rays all of a sudden aren't 0 for 30 something anymore.

I don't want players like German period. He cost us too much by his inability to control his behavior. No off the field surprises No bad boys on Team Noetsi... No guys you can't count on.

There was a third player in the Ford/ Frazier pinch hitter debate. That was Higashioka. He’s about as likely as either the two to hit a home run, and his pitiful OBP is still better than Ford’s.
Yes, the Astros ended that 0-32 stretch quickly upon Sanchez’ entry into the game. They also hit the game winner off Chapman with him behind the plate. I’d like to find a way to blame Sanchez for that, but it was clearly a superior at bat that carried long enough for Chapman to make a mistake...

Well put. Only thing I differ with is Chapman. I'm not going to be angry when our hitters only managed 3 hits and another double digit strike out effort. Didn't help that Judge, Voit and Gio didn't do much with the bat the whole series. Oh well, just glad I got to witness some meaningful baseball this year. When they had those outbreaks early in the year, i never thought we'd get any kind of season.
