What didn’t help was the Yankees had 22 runners left on base.

No, it was Marco Scutaro. I was at that game. Just before the pitch, I told my buddy that Scutaro likes fastballs up in the zone, and that’s where the pitch was. I thought that was a grand slam, but according to baseball fever’s account it was a three-run homer. Bill Shelby hit a walk off slam off Rivera in 2002. Do you also recall it as a grand slam? For me, I had gone to bed with knowledge that we had a two run lead with Scutaro (thanks for reminding me of that part) at bat. I saw the score change in a crawler on TV. I think it was an ESPN crawler… and thought… no… can’t be… I was thinking it was a two run homer, but I could be wrong. I’ll look it up.

I just hope Chapman isn't hurt. It didn’t look like Chapman at all. Hopefully, it was just mechanical. Chapman needs to go back to wearing the sweatshirt underneath his uniform. He just didn't look right without it.

2-1 against the Twins is like missing your sister…

I had seats down the third base line around the last of the infield dirt. Other than that moment, it had been a great night.

What didn’t help was the Yankees had 22 runners left on base. Right this is the issue like they should have had 10 runs at least. I mean you win the series and whatever, but losing those 3 games to Boston put them in a situation where anything less than a sweep here basically just took 3 days off the calendar and didn't get them much closer. I mean though regardless 2 runs up in the 9th inning you win most of those. You do wonder though if the Urshela run scored and the Gittens HR wasn't foul the lead is bigger than 2. Similar to that Tigers game they lost in the bottom of the 9th.

Yep, Chapman and Loaisiga and Green had been sure money in the ninth inning.

Yankees schedule before they face the Red sox again:
@ PHI 2 @ BUF 3 vs OAK 3 vs KC 3
Red sox schedule before they face the Yankees again
vs TOR 4 @ ATL 2 @ KC 3 @ TB 3
Rays schedule before that series:
vs BAL 3 @ CWS 3 @ SEA 3 vs BOS 3
So no one really has a cake walk overall, but it would prob be a good idea if the Yankees could pick up 2-3 games before the Red Sox and Rays plays each other.
Again I get its early, but you don't want to be 10 back at the All-star break either.

The biggest problem the Yankees have is whoever made these schedules put 13 of the 19 games vs the Rays before June 1st. So that gives less chance for them to catchup head to head. Bottom line here the Yankees need to start stringing some wins together hopefully have some better luck in Buffalo than last year they really need both games in Philly and 2 of 3 in Buffalo.
The Rays do strike out a lot so its not like they are world beaters. Just you don't want to get too far behind.

The Twins outfield defense did a fantastic job of stealing extra base hits tonight … if those plays hadn’t been made we stomp the crap out of them. I’ll harp on defense again for those of you who have forgotten how much I harp that I want skilled defenders at as many positions as possible…

Good news: Stanton is killing the ball again Bad News: We won't see him in the lineup again until next week I forgot about that. There's no chance he plays a game at LF in an NL ballpark you think? Probably not.
