It was an impossible play. How lucky were we to watch Derek Jeter all those years? It was a privilege watching the worst defensive shortstop in the history of baseball, according to Rob Neyer and ESPN. Careful, you're going to get pipps all riled up.

ESPN has a writer named David Schoenfield, and he used to sneak jabs at Jeter into every baseball article, even if it had nothing to do with the Yankees or shortstops, and even after Jeter retired. One day, I had enough. Schoenfield used to do live group chats, so I logged in and proceeded to pick every spot that lended a legitimate opportunity to harshly criticize his opinions and his writing, using no profanity or name calling (they will block you otherwise). At the end of the chat, he said something snarky to me, so I told him now you know what it’s like for Yankee fans and Jeter fans who have had to put up with unwarranted criticism in nearly every piece he writes for years and then, even after Jeter was no longer an active player. I don’t know if I made an impact, but he never wrote a thing about Jeter after that chat.

Another pretty sparse post-restriction crowd for a summery June day. The fans may be sending a message.

Repeating the same crap in the hope that eventually people would accept it. And many did. There has never been a shortage of idiots. It's why ESPN exists.
