You rarely see Judge gripe to an ump.

Dalbec can reminds me of Joe Lahoud. That’s not a compliment… though Lahoud was around a while. He just never developed into a full time player…

When you hit below .200 you have one chance in five, less actually to get a hit. Bunting is something NL pitchers can do. One is easier than the other. It is not unlucky you did not get a hit when you bat .188. It is what is likely. Higgy has a disastrous .198 BABIP this season. The league average is around .300. We’re going to pretend you have a clue what that means, but if you don’t, feel free to ask. In addition, in his “no power” career that you accuse him of he’s hit 20 HR in 370-something AB. That’s good power. You let him swing because he had enough power to turn on a ball an knock those runners in… He would have let two more run score if he had moved the runners over. I will leave it at that.

You rarely see Judge gripe to an ump. It's absurd, they screwed Holmes a half inning ago on a pitch that was strike and then call that garbage on one of the game's best players. It's just wrong.

Again you assume the bunt to be successful. You must also assume the next two batters see the same pitches and hit them to the same places. And even if you were correct, I would say… this time. It wouldn’t happen each time…

It happens so often with Judge, I can't believe the Yankees don't publicly complain about it. It's scandalous.

Cone thought it was a strike I think Being a better player does not give you a better strike zone. In theory. In fact if a player shows good knowledge of the strike zone it does have an affect on close pitches. I recall a story about a catcher asking the ump why a particular pitch vs. Ted Williams was not called a strike whereupon the ump answered, “Because Mr. Williams did not swing at it”. Enough said. Influence proven…

As you know, I share your affinity for good names, as we will call them. They stir nostalgia for those nights listening to the transistor radio under the covers. The bane of my report card. The bane of my desire to rise early. The most nefarious of my childhood tricks that went undiscovered. Not there we’re not more nefarious tricks. Just that they all got discovered. There were very watchful eyes on me, despite the absence of a father. Much of that from an older brother that desperately wanted to find wrong, and created it when he could actually find no wrong…

Makes you feel like he could have even better numbers. Almost like the umps think he has an unfair advantage due to his size, or like they think the extra half a foot in height he has gives him a foot more strike zone…
