See ya Joe!!! The grass isn't always greener on the other side.. but our grass was getting pretty heat burnt.. I heard Kevin Long as a possible candidate. I don't know about all that, what do you guys think? I've read a lot of great things about our AAA manager and heard he was being groomed to take over once Joe was out , since he already managed a lot of talent on the current roster. I don't think that's a horrible idea at all

The main positive I can think of about any replacement for Girardi is...He won't be Girardi...I was just tired of looking at his tense-looking face all the time...Besides, he reminds me of someone I used to know that I'd rather not be reminded of...

Apologies to GOTYE:
I guess we had to cut you off Make out like it never happened and that we were nothing The team doesn't need you now Cash treats you like a stranger and that feels so rough No you didn't have to stoop so low Have your friends collect your binders and then change your number I guess the team don't need that though Now you're just Girardi that I used to know
Now you're just Girardi that I used to know Now you're just Girardi that I used to know
[Kimbra:] Now and then I think of all the times you screwed us over But had me believing it was always something that the team had done Giving hot hitters needless days off when They three hits with a homer just the day before You said that you could let it go And I wouldn't catch you screwing up the lineup anymore
[x2] GI-RAR-DI (I used to know) GIR-AR-DI (Now you're just Girardi that I used to know)
(I used to know) (That I used to know) (I used to know) GIR-AR-DI

Just read there was a lot of clubhouse tension between Girardi and players. Makes sense with the whole Sanchez fiasco... the whole Chapman liking the comment on twitter? saying they hope Girardi is gone at end of season. Wish I knew more about what was going on behind the scenes with him and the players. Until this season I always thought Girardi and his players got along.. maybe he tried to "daddy" them too much since he wasn't used to managing youth since his Marlins days? IDK...
Apparently Tex also bad mouthed Girardi on the Michael Kay show today. Anybody know what was said?

That was easy to find with a little bit of Googling... Or is it Googleing? No , auto correct says it's Googling...
Anyways.. this is what Tex said... wasn't really bad mouthing him.. more of speaking the truth?
“We know Joe’s a tight guy, we know he’s intense, and it just seemed to me that Cash wanted to go with a manager that would be a little better communicator with the new young talent,” Teixeira, now an ESPN baseball analyst, said in an interview on the field at Minute Maid Park on Thursday between Games 2 and 3 of the World Series. “Because this team is going to win a World Series. The current Yankees team is so talented, and I think you’re probably looking for a manager that can just be a little bit better communicator, maybe not wear his emotions on his sleeve every day.”

When a new manager is hired in baseball, does he bring in his own coaches and assistants, or is that generally strictly a FO decision?

I dont think theres any set standard...probably determined between the parties. I would guess the FO has heavy influence if there are guys there that they like but the manager is going to have to be able to work with those guys too. For example, as I have mentioned on the Scout board a number of times, my wife's uncle/godfather is Don Cooper. He is the pitching coach for the Chicago White Sox. He has been with the Major League team in that capacity since 2002. During that time the ChiSox have had 4 different managers (Jerry Manuel, Ozzie Guillen, Robin Ventura, Rick Renteria). So obviously its not like they just gut the whole org when there is a change to the manager.

I would suspect that to be one of the major factors that determines which candidates take which jobs. "How do you feel about working with Don Cooper"? could be the question that breaks a tie or swings a decision. There may be some managers that won't take a job unless he gets to work with their own "team", and others that don't care, as long as they believe they can get along with the ones that are there...I would imagine a guy like Girardi might fight to have what he wants and might walk away from certain scenarios...The more the team wants a particular manager, the more they may let him make decisions. It's a power struggle...

Oh yea they are always happy to come through with the hook up when there are spare tickets ...gets tough sometimes bc hes originally from Brooklyn so he has a lot of family/friends back in this area that want tix too.
