Really. How long will we have to put up with his anal antics and his sour puss in the dugout? There are no rules here, so I guess you can vote for what you want, or you can vote for you think will happen...

George Steinbrenner died in 2010, or Girardi would have been gone already.

I'm not a big fan but I don't think Girardi is going anywhere unless he decides to.

Girardi will be here as long as he wants. The team wants to win, but this isn't the olden times of George when you didn't win for so many years you got fired.

I voted "remember Joe Torre" managers don't have a long shelf life and I feel like Girardi has already expired. Just waiting for ownership to smell the stench..

I voted for another 10 years, even though it's not what I want. It's sad, really. I like stability. At least usually...

I am getting the feeling that if the yankees pull off the upset this year and win the world series he retires. If they don't I think he is here as long as he wants to be. I don't think the front office is down on him or anything from what i've read in different places.

I didn't vote on this but my expectation is that both Cashman and Girardi get new contracts this offseason, regardless of how the season ends.
While the team won fewer games than "projected" based on runs scored and runs allowed, they overachieved based on reasonable expectations going into the year in pretty much all respects.
I give most of the credit for that to Cashman and the development team and of course to the players themselves but believe ownership views it as a package and would give Girardi credit (and take plenty of credit for themselves of course).
I would expect a 3 year extension for Girardi shortly after Cashman signs, which I expect to happen quickly after the season ends.

I would expect a 3 year extension for Girardi shortly after Cashman signs, which I expect to happen quickly after the season ends. 4 days ago you said they will both be gone this offseason. Whats changed? Just rethinking realistically about how this ownership behaves. I'm not saying I want him back. I don't see them making a change. It isn't what they do. I think Cashman and Girardi would both have plenty of teams interested in them but it is hard to imagine Hal and Levine having a thoughtful plan to put someone else in place. Cashman had complained about control from time to time but never has walked over it, even when he could have. So it is possible he could decide not to come back but not likely considering his past behavior. Girardi hasn't shown any interest in leaving so probably would want to return if asked. Possible they might have wanted him to leave if they lost based on his game 2 screwup (although that would have been overreacting to one failure in a manner more consistent with George than Hal) but with that now irrelevant it would surprise me to have them not seek to keep him. So if they don't keep either of these guys, it would surprise me and it also probably isn't good news, considering who would be making the decisions about their replacements. Obviously, none of us really knows what the organization thinks but that's how I think of it now. I've never liked Girardi as a manager, but I also think the chances of Hal and Randy hiring a manager who is better than Girardi is very small. They have no track record to make anyone believe they would know how to hire a GM or a manager.

To be clear, what I said before was that they will be available. If the Yankees don't lock them up to prevent them from considering other offers, they're available.
Hal made the choice not to address this until the offseason so they're necessarily going to be available to other teams who want to express interest as soon as the season ends.
I believe Hal has intimated a likelihood to seek to bring them back.

I think if the yankees had lost Game 3 there was really not much choice other than to fire there would have been a national media uproar for his firing.
