I agree with you on the starting rotation but i dont know how one cannot be concerned with a bullpen that lost guys like king , peralta and middleton abd thats on top of other relievers like trevino that they lost too . And they did nothing to improve the bullpen this off season add a bunch of question marks . They always seem to be able to piece it together, but we will see if they sign anyone. I thought Middleton or Peralta would be coming back, but neither is coming back. Wonder what's up with Monty/Snell been quiet on them last few days. I just dont feel comfortable with a bullpen that is mostly question marks . And i think monty will sign soon since i think texas worked out their tv deal for another season

That depends, the risk of the Yankees trading so many prospects for 2 players in the walk years would have to be within reason. ------ Losing Warren and Jones would possibly be felt for many years to come. If we don't sign Soto and Verdugo, we have to fill two outfield spots. Dominguez and Jones can be stars in the not to distant future. Let's not repeat Jay Bhuner for Ken Phelps (the worst trade that the Yanks ever made)------- Oburg Bob
That trade is the perfect example why the Yankees shouldn't trade for a hitter just because that hitter is left-handed.

I'm not super concerned with the bullpen, because the Yankees always seem to figure out bullpen arms, but the starting rotation has a lot of ?'s. As I said earlier Cole/Rodon/Stroman could be a good top 3 but between Rodon injuries and Nestor injuries it's a lot to bank on. I just hope they get one more guy for some insurance to the starting rotation. I agree with you on the starting rotation but i dont know how one cannot be concerned with a bullpen that lost guys like king , peralta and middleton abd thats on top of other relievers like trevino that they lost too . There was a time when King and Peralta were question marks. The Hall of Fame is filled with players that at onetime were question marks. I still think that the Yankees need a shutdown Closer, but the players they added to the bullpen aren't scrubs, particularly Gonzalez and Effross.

I can't remember a time when players with the talent of Snell and Bellinger were still unsigned so far into the off-season.

Gonzalez had a 4 era last year , what has he proven ? And effros hasnt really pitched since 22 . He will be still getting his arm strength back . Your blind optimism in a bullpen mostly consisting of pitchers with either no mlb experience or coming back from long term injuries is misguided at best . Only someone foolish would not be concerned about the bullpen right now .

Could be. If so, next off season is going to be interesting since his clients are Burnes, Soto.

I don't have blind optimism, but by judging some of your posts it appears to you every silver lining has a cloud, which includes your post about a player getting into better shape (Peraza).
People aren't foolish just because they disagree with you. The Yankees bullpen didn't need much improvement. What has Gonzalez proven? He's proven to be a decent MLB pitcher.
What did Peralta prove when he was with the Giants? Why don't you take a look at Perelta's and Gonzalez's 2023 hard hit rate vs RHH? Lastly, anyone that claims that "Hal forced" Cashman to make trades without being in the room to know that for sure, shouldn't be calling anyone foolish.

Gonzalez is one guy . They lost their 3 best arms from the bp . You dont take a loss without it hurting .

Would be stupid not to pull the trigger on that trade . Why the need to use the word stupid? How would it look if the Yankees traded Thorpe, King, Warren, Jones, for Soto and Burnes but weren't able to re-sign either Soto or Burnes? Using the word stupid in a sports context is not as bad as it sounds!

As bulletin board fans we are not in any position to assess the futures of prospects like Jones or Warren. As a general rule, I would never trade any left handed bat who can play a position and hit for power. IMO those factors just play too well at Yankee Stadium and in an era where #99 is still in his prime, they are even more precious. Burnes would have been a great add for '24 but all the Yankees really need is a reliable starter who can give them 140 good innings of work. They had plenty of chances to get that.

For this reason, I wouldn't trade Jones for one year of Burnes and I certainly wouldn't trade him for that package Milwaukee received from Baltimore.
