As bulletin board fans we are not in any position to assess the futures of prospects like Jones or Warren. As a general rule, I would never trade any left handed bat who can play a position and hit for power. IMO those factors just play too well at Yankee Stadium and in an era where #99 is still in his prime, they are even more precious. Burnes would have been a great add for '24 but all the Yankees really need is a reliable starter who can give them 140 good innings of work. They had plenty of chances to get that. For this reason, I wouldn't trade Jones for one year of Burnes and I certainly wouldn't trade him for that package Milwaukee received from Baltimore. What has jones done in just 2 years in A ball and lower that makes him so untouchable? |

In Jones case it’s not what he’s done, it’s his status as a 5 tool cf prospect that would make me hesitant to lose him unless the deal was an incredible one. One year rentals need not apply. I hope that helps you get a clearer picture of him than you had a few posts ago when you were naming him as a future middle infielder… |

Sign Monty for five years then I would… rentals are getting very expensive lately in terms of rentals… Of course rentals are getting more expensive because they are proven commodities that can be had without long term damage to how high the payroll is . Especially when you care more about the here and now and not the possible future the next 3 to 5 years from now. If you want a ws now you pay the price , plain and simple |
