Again. This was for a rental pitcher. Hand me Burnes with his five years extension and Jones is all yours. And I’ll send along a pitcher too, but not Warren or Hampton… So? You cant keep kicking the can down the line for unproven prospects , it hasnt worked well in the last 10 years. And with cole and judge not getting any younger you have to stop worrying about 2 or 3 years in the future and worry about the here and now . If you give a damned about winning a title now you do that trade . There is just no excuse to walk away from a trade because of one guy who might possibly be ready in 2 or 3 year Two guys, actually. You and I would definitely be very different GMs, of that there is no doubt. I have a little bit of Cashman’s style in me. A bit of caution. You’re more like a mad trader. There are arguments for both…

Is the farm that bad ?

Is the farm that bad ? It’s always true in prospect world. None are proven commodities. What if we had traded the “Big Four” (actually five) way back, or dealt Mo Rivera away? The trick is to keep the best ones and deal away the just misses…

Back then they traded prospects for tino , bullpen help and a highly touted prospect in ledee for a 1.5 year rental in justice . Cashman has hugged and held on to atleast 3 times as many in these last ten years alone and look at the results we have gotten so far .

I believe the Yanks feel they have maybe 3-4 prospects they are feeling are untouchables, but that they can still be had for the right deal. If Acuna and the Braves have a big dispute tomorrow and the Braves offer him to us for Jones, Hampton, Warren, Arias we just might empty the farm for that. I also think each poster has their own group of prospects they feel are untouchable, and I think they’d change their mind for that Acuna deal. But if Acuna is a rental and says “All right, I’ll go to the Yankees but hate NY and won’t sign there long term, the deal is off the table…or maybe we only give them Jones. Circumstances determine who stays and who goes…

Circumstances determine who stays and who goes… Thats how its been for the last 20 years man . First it was hughes , joba and kennedy , then the killer b’s , then it was the guys they refused to give for seattle’s ace at the time , then it was frazier , sanchez , and andujar , then it was volpe , peraza and dominguez . And now its warren and jones . Its the same tired and old argument over and over . All because they got lucky that 4 guys worked out so well . Especially when everyone and their mother knows what we got in the 90s was a once ot twice in a life time achievement . And that 80 % of prosoects dont pan out
