Enyel de los Santos in to pitch the 9th for the Padres.
Rizzo takes a slider down and in, then another low and away, 2-0 FB waist high, outer 3rd, but Rizzo misses, fouls it off, 2-1 Slider down and in again, 3-1 FB up and away, ball 4
No, Kay, Rizzo, didn't catch it before it dropped out of the zone, It was 4-5 inches below the knees, but he did catch it before it dropped out of reach.

Rizzo walks to start the ninth! In the immortal line from Hobson in the movie Arthur, "I'll alert the media". Torres... FB misses high by an inch or two, but, you know...1-1 Well at least that FB called a strike was, in fact a strike on the outer 3rd, 1-2 FB in the zone up and in, popped down the right side, but goes out of play. Slider low, 2-2 Slider at the knees in the middle, lined to center for a hit, Rizzo stops at 2nd with nobody out for Wells.

Wells is 0-2 more than any other player on this team.

Tries to jump the slider in the zone down and in, swings over it, 0-1 on Wells. Another slider down and in, this one out of the zone (maybe!), fouled off his leg, 0-2 Slider starts in the zone near middle, drops low, swings over it, K, 1 down.

Cabrera... FB outside at the top, and the clear ball is called...ball 1 FB above the top near middle, swung under, 1-1 FB in the zone up and away, late and under, fouled off, 1-2 Change bounced over home, 2-2 Starts and stops to do the inside bluff to 2nd on Rizzo. FB in off the plate, Cabrera takes a huge cut and hits a high foul pop, but it drifts out of Arreaz' reach in the Padres dugout. Fb misses low on the corner inside, 3-2 The slider is this guy's key pitch, but Cabrera didn't pick that up, chases a slider dropping way low over the inner half for the K, 2 down.

After a decent battle, so did Cabrera, and on the same pitch.

Bad swing for Cabrera as that pitch was way out of the strike zone destined for a walk.

Slider drops above the knees in the middle, Volpe takes, 0-1 Rolls over a slider below the zone low/away, bounces it to Machado, who stares Rizzo down after he stops halfway to 3rd, then just walks over and tags him gently with the ball and pats him on the rump, inning over. That made me laugh a bit.
Bottom 9, 4-1 Yanks, and Holmes will have to come in to try to close it out against Peralta, Merrill and Campusano, or maybe a pinch hitter.

Bad swing for Cabrera as that pitch was way out of the strike zone destined for a walk. Yeah, the slider is de los Santos' best pitch, and none of them...Wells, Cabrera, and Volpe, were able to read it.

Sinker down the middle thigh high, 0-1 on Peralta Sinker low, he tries to go the other way with it, popped down the line in left, but it slices foul out of reach, 0-2 Crosses up Peralta with the slider down and in out of the zone, scissors effect chased and missed for the K.
