Merrill... Slider hits the inside corner, thigh high, 0-1 Sinker at 97 misses inside near the knees, 1-1 Sinker inner 3rd at 96, ties him up just enough, his sharp grounder goes right to Volpe, throws him out, 2 down.
Campusano will bat for himself.

1st pitch sinker at 96 jams Campusano a bit, hits a charp bouncer to 3rd, Cabrera backs up and fields, sets and throws a strike to Rizzo, game over!!
Yanks win 4-0, their 4th win in a row, and win this series. They've now won 17 of 21, and get to a season high 20 games over .500 for the first time this season at 37-17.

Yet another nice, polite beating. "Nice to beat you, beat you very much, beat you again tomorrow". That line never gets old.

Yanks stay 3 games ahead of the O's, who came from behind late again today. Gain a full game on the Sox, Rays and Jays agaiin, now 10 up on the Sox, 11 1/2 up on the Rays, and 12 1/2 up on the Jays. Anyone have the Yanks 10 games ahead of all three 1/3 the way through the season on their parlay cards? If so, you're a very rich person, because the odds on that would've been very long indeed.

So much better than last year sucks that they are doing so good and the orioles are still right there though reminds me of Rangers canes all year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

3rd star of the game: Rizzo, for the brilliant adjustment knocking in the 3rd run in the 4th, setting up Torres sac fly that followed. 2nd star: Judge, for the 1st inning 2-run HR and the 4th inning double that started the 2 run rally. 1st star: Stroman for the many perplexing slowballs (Thanks, Bugs!) that baffled the Padres (and me) for six innings. His 3rd straight excellent start, raising his record to 4-2 and lowering his ERA to 2.76. Amazingly, he ends the night just outside the top 10 in the AL. Honorable mentions, a ton of them...Weaver for battling through 2 innings without his top stuff. Cabrera for the outstanding tough play in the 8th off Machado, ignoring the flying bat piece coming at him, and turning in a great play on the sharp grounder to the 56 hole. Holmes looked the best he's looked in a week or two. Oh, and Volpe for two different hits, the single that opened the game, turning Judge's HR into 2 runs, and the single he got on the slider low and away in the 7th, a swing he would never have made last year. Soto gets a cap tip, for having a long dispute with Miller without geting himself tossed from the game.
All 5 Yankees starters are in the AL top 20: Gil is 3rd at 2.11, Schmidt is 7th at 2.59. Stroman is 11th at 2.76, Rodon is 13th at 2.95, and Cortes is 18th at 3.29. It's just 1/3 of a season, and a long long way to go, but I never expected ANYTHING like this from this rotation. Kudos to Blake, the analytical staff and the scouting staff for what they've done so far.

The Yanks go for another sweep tomorrow... Clarke Schmidt, looking for his 4th straight good start, goes for the Yanks, and Joe Musgrove, who's pitched better in his last 5 starts, but still has a 3-4 record and an ERA of 6.14 coming in, goes for the Padres.
Ok, going to catch up with the notifications...

With his double and HR tonight, Judge's slugging % is now .640 and he's passed Tucker for the AL and the MLB lead. Ohtani has cooled off a bit, too… Yep, he was well out front of the rest of MLB after that long hot streak.
