If Voit keeps this type of playing up; WE might have resolved our 1B issue???!!! I hope it's not a mirage....the longer he continues to hit, the more it looks like he is for real....Cashman and his scouts deserve a huge credit for trades like this, and Gregorious, as well as others..... Bird has had periods of productivity, and some have mentioned his nice swing....he could remain as the backup 1B, or if some other club believes they can develop the potential that he has, Bird could be a trade chip....something had to be done by the Yankees because the promise of Bird becoming a big hitter was clearly diminishing as time went on...

I keep thinking that Luke Voit is having his Shane Spencer moment, but maybe there is more to it than that. I am really disappointed in the year Bird has had. That perfect Yankee Stadium swing still requires him to actually hit the ball. It still seems possible he could develop into a useful major league power hitter, and I hope that is with the Yankees, but at this point his prospects seem no better than 50-50 for me. Maybe if he ever actually stayed healthy for an entire season.

Maybe if he ever actually stayed healthy for an entire season. all Yankee fans hope Bird still develops into that power hitter that has kept the Yankees believing he would be a long time answer at 1B..what would be foolish would have been to continue to construct the roster in the belief that was a certainty....I give Cashman great credit for recognizing that earlier this season, and trading for someone who has hit at every level...maybe Voit does flame out, but it seems the Yankees have seen what some fans have talked about and are committed now to move in a direction that does not depend on Bird...

Andujar is just a natural hitter.....he has to be in the Yankees long term plans, barring being overwhelmed in a trade that brings back a whole lot....
