"Ohtani's two problems with the Yankees? Cashman said he was told that it was that they're not a small-market club, nor are they on the West Coast."
pussy.

Well, that's a kick in the nuts. Being able to sign a pitcher this skilled at such a low cost would have been huge for the Yankees.

I would imagine why this is why Otani wanted to come to the United States now instead of wait 2 years. Doing this now allows him to join the team he wants (by essentially putting everyone on a level field in negotiations) instead of feeling the pressure to chase the money that the Yankees or Red Sox would offer him.
If that is indeed his motives, I can respect that, although I disagree with it.

If he doesn't want to be a Yankee, then to hell with him...The Yankees don't need him, either...Let's see where he stands when it's time for his big MLB free agency pay-day...

I don't think he will be that great as advertised...time will tell though.

I don't think he will be that great as advertised...time will tell though. Yeah, I certainly don't think he's the next Babe Ruth.

"HE DID WHAT?" Amazing, but we understand & give him points for standing his ground.
Apparently, he felt he wouldn't be HAPPY with the Yankees and one must respect such; since $$$ doesn't always bring happiness.
Sadly though Tequila & I put some serious $$$ on him signing with the Yankees.
This is our second negative hit within a week, where we lost big $$$...
"Tequila, you & I need a 'Come to Jesus meeting'...no you cannot hide, cause you are in a locked cage and do not pretend you cannot hear me."

[img src="//storage.proboards.com/6828121/images/lCwAHotCLxclGoHYBUrv.gif" alt=" " class="smile"] I wouldnt be surprised if he is basicaly as good as advertised (so long as he stays healthy and what not) but not that hes Babe Ruth reincarnated. Hes like Babe Ruth in his ability to play both ways but I dont think any rational person honestly believes he will produce like Babe Ruth.

Ruth "Can you move NY to the west coast and not so many expectations" Ohtani. He should sign in Seattle with Cano, that way the playoffs won't interfere with vacation plans.

I'm sure that the team that gets him will accept the next Bob Lemon...

Of course I’m disappointed. On the other hand ,I won’t miss the circus atmosphere that is sure to accompany this player. Not sure how his teammates will react to the special treatment that he is bound to receive.

Not sure how his teammates will react to the special treatment that he is bound to receive. Since he has stated his desire to be the star of his team, it's not only the special treatment he will receive, but the special treatment he may DEMAND...This makes me suspect that he could be a "me" player, not so concerned with the welfare of the team as himself...
