Of course in the interest of integrity one would hope that the player would reveal the injury before being signed. I wonder if the Angels will have an out now if they don't want him, and who else might take him. This is a demonstration of poor character on the part of the player, his agent and especially his former team for taking the $20M... Since this is a ligament and not bone chips, I guess I can't say "Let the chips fall where they may", but you know what I mean, right??? So the Angels didn’t know about the elbow before they signed him???

I guess I'd have to say that I'm not sure, but it appears they discovered this in a physical exam, so perhaps they knew before they signed him. I have serious doubts they knew before paying the posting fee, which was by far the most of the cost of acquisition. Thanks for gently pointing out that they may have had knowledge of the injury at the time they inked the deal. I still think the news should have been out there before anyone wrote a check for $20M, but hey! What's $20M among friends, right???

They knew of the ligament issue but said that it wasn't a concern.. that most pitchers his age have that issue.

When reached late Tuesday, Angels general manager Billy Eppler told Yahoo Sports: “Shohei underwent a thorough physical with MRI scans to both his elbow and his shoulder. Those are scans we conduct whenever we sign a pitcher. Based on the readings of those MRIs, there are not signs of acute trauma in the elbow. It looks consistent with players his age. We are pleased with the results of the physical and we are very happy to have the player.” sports.yahoo.com/recent-physical-shows-angels-shohei-ohtani-damaged-elbow-ligament-035554341.html

"The shot of PRP, a biologic of centrifuge-spun blood that is used to promote healing, was administered Oct. 20, according to the report, which was distributed to teams after Ohtani entered Major League Baseball’s posting system. Ohtani, the report said, 'will be most likely available to start his throwing program approximately a month from the PRP.'" Also, he does have bone chips... maybe? "In addition, a “small free body” floats in Ohtani’s elbow near his UCL, according to the report." All in the link I posted last post...
