I woke-up to this news and the first I did was vomit--the next thing I did after washing my face & brushing my teeth, was to start thinking of how many $$$ I will bet against MY YANKS in 2022???!!!
--Brian Cashman on the decision to bring back Aaron Boone:
"Aaron Boone was part of the solution, and wasn't the problem. If he was entering the free agent market, I believe he'd be the #1 managerial candidate in baseball. He's been a good hire."
Do Me's Thoughts: "Cash, then WHO IS or WHAT IS the Problem??? Maybe you plus...
Maybe, Boone has his Tongue so up Cash's & the Owners' ASSES, that they will never need to use Toilet Paper again."
--PIPPS: "Abandon hope. The Cardinals can fire Mike Schildt after basically doing what Boone has done over just three years. The Red Sox can fire managers like Terry Francona and John Farrell who actually won rings if they can't win another after four years or so.
Guess they have higher standards than the Yankees."
WE AGREE.
--As a DIE HARD YANKEE FAN I feel totally hopeless, plus I am NOW very depressed.
--Tequila is so upset that she turned two of my workers into STONE. Every worker now keeps their backs to Tequila and refuses to look at her.
--BEARMAN: Tequila said thanks for loving her and she might be able to love you too, depending on your NEW-WORTH and if you are a ANTI Boone fan???!!!
My Six Year Plan will NOT WORK with Boone as Mgr.
What a F..ked up day--Anyone has Mushrooms???
God news and bad news for me Domeplease. I don't like Boone one little bit but I also don't have two nickels to rub together. Good thing this board is free. Sigh. P.S. If it helps I have a 1965 Yankees Stars Jake Gibbs and Tom Metcalf Topps Card and a 1959 Marv Throneberry Topps card as well as a 45 of Tequila by the Champs. They might raise my net worth a little. Bearman-- did you know that Jim Seals and Dash Crofts were in The Champs for the "Tequila" session? Glen Campbell was with the group later, but then again he was a ubiquitous session player back then.

The Yankees have a robust analytics department, as do currently contending teams like the Dodgers and Astros, while the Red Sox, now two games away from advancing to the World Series, revamped their analytical approach by hiring Chaim Bloom just two seasons ago. But the Yankees haven’t found the recent success those teams have despite trying a similar approach, one that Cashman still stands by despite the lack of World Series appearances. “I think our analytics department is very good at what they do,” Cashman said. “They are charged with in their specialty category to present player evaluation…we have algorithms on our defensive shifts and a whole bunch of different levels where analytics play a role. I think it served us extremely well. “They are very good at what they do in their category…separately we have our pro scouts go out and about and do their advanced scouting and pro assessments, and we have our amateur world as well, where the analytics blend into that from the development side to the amateur scouting to the pro side, as well as the managerial strategies and an array of choices that will be leveraged for him to pull if he so chooses.”

Sounds like in Cashman's world everything is great in the front office and with the manager. Just be patient for another 12 years and we'll get to the World Series.

Like I said before so frustrating with all the inconsistent play they still controlled their own destiny on the last weekend and couldn't maintain control. However if the front off and managing wasn't so inept they could have wrapped it up way before.

This organization is stuck in neutral and isn't going anywhere. Bringing back Boone is a disappointment but the bigger problem is above him.

Love the Baghdad Bob reference, Ren. Very apt. Although he was more entertaining than Cashman.

My knowledge of music is pretty much confined to the Platters, Drifters and similar groups as well anything played on the jukebox at the Pad in Ocean Drive in the mid 60’s.

Love The Platters reference. Not many of us here were around for them. Their lead singer Tony Williams had incredible range and vocal drama. That buildup to the conclusion of "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes" still gives a thrill. Kind of like Gene Pitney in "I'm Gonna Be Strong" or Roy Orbison in "It's Over." Sure, The Drifters in any of their formulations, from the Clyde McPhatter days up through Ben E. King or Rudy Lewis. So versatile. All great stuff that I guess should be moved to the music thread. Sorry Kaybli.

This organization is stuck in neutral and isn't going anywhere. Bringing back Boone is a disappointment but the bigger problem is above him. Quite a bit has been said by all of us but this nails it plain and simple. In hindsight the Steinbrenners changed the goal and direction of the franchise once they tore down the massive home field advantage they had in old Yankee Stadium, to cash in on extra revenue of suites, restaurants, bars inside new YS. They capitalized off of the 90s dynasty run by hiring Randy Levine in pursuit of bullying and greasing NYC political palms to get a new stadium when one wasn't needed. Winning became secondary, no better example than the stagnant payroll we've seen for 15 years now as revenues has soared. They're continuing the charade by keeping the likes of Cashman, Levine, Trost, and now Boone around, as if everything is perfectly acceptable not reaching the WS. Winning has become secondary, it's plenty obvious.
